RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted November 26, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 26, 2019 (edited) Looking at the last of the four photos, the one with the cable drums, made me think that perhaps I ought to make the left-hand side of the buffer stop a bit overgrown as well, until I remembered that that is where the entrance door to the little coal office is! RMweb Gold Popular Post Captain Kernow Posted November 26, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted November 26, 2019 Further scenic work has taken place in this view since I took the photo, but this was the entrance to the yard recently: 26 2
RMweb Gold Popular Post Captain Kernow Posted December 1, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted December 1, 2019 (edited) I have re-fitted the backscene again this afternoon. It seems Dick Wolsley was in the area and visited to take some snaps. 1458 arrives with a short goods working, which will terminate at Bethesda Sidings and return, once some connecting traffic has been worked in from the Vale of Radnor Light Railway: Dick took a general view of the yard, once 1458 had positioned some of it's wagons: I think he might have picked up the odd tip from Ben Ashworth here, as he seems to have climbed into a tree to get this view: Now waiting for the incoming goods service from the light railway to arrive: Which duly arrives behind the light railway's 'Planet' 0-4-0 diesel 'Dorothy': Some further photos in the Cameo Layout section - Edited December 1, 2019 by Captain Kernow 26
Andrew P
I've been following the exploits of Rob's Sheep Chronical's, but not for some reason looked in here for some considerable time. Wow what I have missed, Superb young Sir, absolutely superb. 2 2

RMweb Gold Ramblin Rich Posted December 3, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 3, 2019 Lovely stuff, these need to go in the 'realistic modelling' thread! There seems to be a bit of reflection where the backscene curves, would it be possible to go over with a matt varnish at all?

Yes, it's more apparent in photos, but I have been considering the matt varnish approach. I will have to do some experimentation, but I may talk to the printer first and see what, if any , effect a varnish might have on the printed image. Edit - I would add that the layout hasn't got it's final lighting arrangements set up, the illumination is currently from ambient room lighting, plus a lamp that I can move around next to the layout. A small prize (possibly, up to and including the value of half a small mince pie) for guessing who took the original photo.

RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted December 4, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 4, 2019 Ok, silly question time. If a lever was decommissioned in a box, was it repainted white or was a substitute white lever installed instead?

Removing a lever could disrupt the locking and be a right pain.
