Ok, silly question time.

If a lever was decommissioned in a box, was it repainted white or was a substitute white lever installed instead?

It would simply have been painted white and disconnected from the interlocking below. Possibly the lever catch might have also been disconnected or removed.

2016, I'd say.

No prizes for guessing the location.

A small prize (possibly, up to and including the value of half a small mince pie) for guessing who took the original photo.

No idea of the photographer but two random guesses. Either The Stationmaster or Craig Munday?

That's very plush for a GWR 'box - carpet tiles and window blinds - whatever next.

Many years ago I was told that Liskeard Signal Box was where Harold Wilson joined the Labour Party - the signalman at the time being a strong union man and Labour Party member - but I was never able to confirm it.  Has anyone else heard this?

One hell of a Tinder profile pick

I don't think the Captain would sully his good name, or reputation, by being associated with that particular organisation

I hope not anyway! I hold the Captain in the highest regard . It would rather be like finding one's father on there!

I don't wan to be taken off the Christmas card list

I'm sure the Captain will issue a statement expressing that he is ... unable to confirm or deny the existence of such a list!

Being excluded from the Captain's Christmas card list is worse than being on Santa's naughty list

I can see that a lot of wisdom has been exchanged on this thread this morning.

I doubt that I can really add much to that.

Chris - I will provisionally and on a temporarily impermanent basis, consider the possible reinstatement of your name of the list of semi-urgent actions accorded to one of the Assistant Deputy Chief Supervisors, with regards to his (or her) next meeting, whereby he (or she) will chair a discussion on the composition of the Christmas Card List.
