I rather like the plinth WITHOUT the crane......

Out of interest, Neil, why is that, please?

Most small goods yards kept their crane until closure, even if it was disused.

The prototype for Bethesda Sidings, with a crane mounted on a brick plinth, as Barbers Bridge, on the Gloucester to Hereford line.

I dunno.....it sorts of lends atmosphere and I thought it gave an illusion of an almost (almost) run down line which was just sort of waiting for the final blow of Beechings axe.

It reminded me of some of the pictures I have seen from the 60's.

Its like a suggestion of what it once was.....if you know what I mean.

That then got my imagination going and drew me into the layout.

Yesterday, I was mostly threading a very fine nylon thread through holes in fence posts.

I found a pair of eyebrow tweezers with built-in LED light invaluable in this process on Tinners.

It’s a fantastic piece of modelling, nothing less than we would expect from you Captain Sir.

Wonderful blending of the foreground into the photographic back scene very effective.
I look forward to seeing this in the flesh soon.

I should venture into 'Layout Topics' more often, as I've failed to keep up with this one.

If I may say so, it's stunning work, beautifully observed and rendered with great naturalness and subtlety.

I'm afraid I experienced one moment of irreverence, however, on seeing this ....

I thought "you could hawk that installation to the Tate Modern for a few tens of thousand"

Lovely modelling Captain Sir. Loads of atmosphere and attention to detail.

Will we see something from the great works of Collett shortly in the siding?

Look forwards to some more snaps.

Cheers,

Mark

Well, there are currently three items of Collett motive power passed to work to Bethesda, plus one item by Dean, together with various other light railway items. I am planning more panniers as well.

It is understood that one of these could well be making an appearance.

They do have a significant 'presence'. I have no use for one, but am tempted, probably by the parcels version.

I have a similar challenge, justifying one west of the Tamar.
