Napoleon brandy

Rather and expensive alternative to misting with IPA !

Other beers are available.

Just a quick note to say that work on Bethesda Sidings should resume in a week or so, once I've got some other, non-modelling projects done.

Has the advert at the top of this thread got anything to do with it ?

Bit more work done and some test running took place today, with the LNER providing the motive power for the light railway, which has running powers into this BR yard. It would normally be very unusual to see two light railway locos in the yard at the same time, though.

Spurred on by the lovely layouts on display at Warminster last weekend, I have resumed work on 'Bethesda Sidings' with gusto (he had no choice in it).

I have started scribing the cobbles (granite setts, really), which will be the white tile-grouted area in the photo above (most of it, anyway).

I'd forgotted how downright laborious it is.

Photos in due course.

It's probably easier to scribe whilst the grout is still not fully set...

Not so, unfortunately. The grout needs to be fully hardened, otherwise undesirable shapes result.

It certainly helps to get the old modelling juices going again, and now I find myself with a new work area so I suppose I should start to do something about it !

Top drawer CK.

Not easy but worth the effort in the long run.

This is the current state of play, not much additional progress really, although cobbling of the goods yard area is well underway and the brickwork on the overbridge has finally been painted and weathered (the girders haven't been weathered yet). The buildings aren't yet permanently attached to the layout, either:

All looking very splendid, CK.

I must say those buildings are just sublime. I take we are looking from the ' viewing side' ?

Normally, when I am at this point, a considerable amount of time is spent playing trains............

I'm sure that's what you meant to say.  ;)

Thanks, but I can't take credit for most of them. The goods shed and matching small office were scratchbuilt by Paul Iliff a few years ago, for a project that was stopped when he changed to 7mm scale.

The small corrugated iron huts and slightly larger hut (which I describe now as the Shunters Cabin) were scratchbuilt either by or for the late Mike Casey, for his 'Bodmin General' layout.

I am responsible for the road overbridge and any other remaining structures.

Yes, photo 1, for example, is indeed taken from the viewing side.

I have finally finished the cobbling and gave them an initial wash with some diluted enamels this morning:

I've also been preparing a Dapol Class 22, to send to Tom Foster for weathering (permanently attaching the skirts, attaching buffer beam pipework and screw couplings):
