LocomotionatShildon
Hi all, just a few word from Simon and Stuart in Locomotion Models to introduce ourselves to you all out there Simon – Commercial manager I have previous experience as a Regional / Operational Manager delivering cost effective services & functions to meet customer expectations within retail and hospitality settings working for high profile high street retailer, entertainment company’s and local government. I am Commercially-focused, with success in managing finances with full P&L accountability; I have a history of maximising organisational profitability, while ensuring achievement of challenging targets. I am comfortable with high levels of accountability, I lead and motivate others to deliver and continually improve. I feel working for the NRM will be rewarding where I can use my skills and expertise to maximise business growth and gain a vast amount of knowledge and the challenges it brings to me. When I have spare time I help with the family allotment and have a keen interest in traveling around the UK with my partner and two Border Terriers. I am sure in time with knowledge from Stuart, collectors and volunteers I will gain a passion in locomotive models. Stuart – Retail team member I have more than 10 years’ experience in quality high street retailers, with a particular focus on merchandising, gifts and hobbies. I have been working at Shildon from February 2014 as a casual and soon after to be offer a contract for NRM. Recently with an increase of hours and responsibility I have been working alongside Simon on developing the trade events, Locomotion models website, internal administration and blog on RMweb to enhance the visitor experience and to get Simon up to speed on modelling bombarding him with knowledge. I am also a lifelong railway enthusiast. I enjoy all aspects of railway modelling, as well as having a keen interest in all aspects of railway history. With thanks Simon and Stuart

Thought I was reading a CV for a job interview, pushing the envelope and giving 110% and all that We're a simple lot here on rmweb, Been better if putting, "hi I'm Simon and I sell trains"

Stevelewis
Welcome aboard but Simon however your introduction statement put me in mind of this...... Thought I was reading a CV for a job interview, pushing the envelope and giving 110% and all that We're a simple lot here on rmweb, Been better if putting, "hi I'm Simon and I sell trains" As an account manager manager for a very high profile company in the Health care ethical & retail sectors for 30 years, I fully agree with Big Jims comments. I am now a simple Railway Modeller ( I was a railway modeller during my full time employment years and so was one of the directors, that I believe kept us sane with our feet on the ground!!) Only time will tell!! PS Peter Kay's Car Share-----Brilliant! Edited April 28, 2017 by Stevelewis
srihaggis
I agree. Welcome aboard, and all that, but I'm still having to go back and translate the opening paragraphs. We have one of those so called business specialists where I work trying to turn the business around, I understand their lingo but agree it took a couple of reads to get the gist. I thought I was reading a CV at first. Edited April 28, 2017 by srihaggis

JSpencer
Hi Simon, Thanks for the motivation letter! You will pleased to know that there is loco type called Terriers, at least one belongs to the NRM. Welcome aboard, we hope you will still maintain our customer expectations and even exceed them as Sandra often did. Hi Stuart, Nice to see you coming forwards into the light. Good luck to both in continuing the fine work of the NRM. Rgds John Edited April 29, 2017 by JSpencer

LocomotionatShildon
Brill... I am a fan of car share and made me laugh out loud - I must take this to the next work away day course on 'how to close the envelope' - . good to see you have a sense of humour too Yes it is sad to see Sandra go, however I will keep things ticking over so not to let you down Did I mention I like minstrels too, partial to a toffee crisp Have fun out there Simon
The Black Hat
I agree. Welcome aboard, and all that, but I'm still having to go back and translate the opening paragraphs. Trying very hard here to keep my powder dry having read that. Sandra will have grown into the role too, but left a big legacy and high standards. Do we miss them already? Maybe, but will need to give this new team time to find the role too.
Porcy Mane
PS. Those introductions filled up my bullsh!t bingo card very quickly. Yep, I'm glad I read that just before bed time. Sets me up grand for a good nights kip accompanied by a little smirk just before bedtime. Now remind me again. How many people at NRM Shildon are employed by the NRM, how many by the Unitary Authority and how many agency?
