I was lucky enough to get my hair cut a few weeks ago, less than a week before the French lockdown, as it happens. But sitting in Gwendoline's salon in La Chapelle du Bois, with mirrors here and there, I see I do now have a visibly thin patch on top. Tuff stuff at 71! Hang on, let me get this right. You went to a “hairdressers” with mirrors on the ceiling.... 1

She seems to have space, chairs and basins for 6 coiffeurs, but operates alone. Room for expansion....

Reminds me of a discussion in a works canteen queue many years ago. Apparently someone a few places ahead of me in the queue had a pasty with custard. It all ends up in the same place. LBRJ
Google tells me it is now the top side of six thousand six hundred days since I last had a pint in the Admiral Rodney Par Inn. That makes me feel rather old! I wonder if they have hoovered in the meantime?

Indomitable026
Good afternoon - it’s been a while, hope you’re all keeping safe and well. Minor announcement today, some how or other - don’t ask me how, I’ve managed to make it to the age of 50 today... Wasn’t going to mention it but then I thought you’re only half a century once, so why not - plus Andy York’s added a birthday cake to my signature - so it’s official... No modelling I’m afraid although I recently bought a Russian freight tram kit... Hopefully things will straighten out in the medium term and we can get back to show or two... 4 13

Hi, Yes the layout is safe and sound stored in my garage along with “Black Country Blues” and the unfinished “Highland Sulzers” awaiting there next call of duty... We all keep in touch as a group albeit we are a lot less prolific than before for various reasons - I think the pressure of creating BCB in such short timescales nearly saw us all off - and took some of the enjoyment out of things. Also I think we are a little less public now than before clearly having had our fill of “fame”. Hopefully after this break for the lurgy we’ll find a renewed impetus.... I’m interested generally, having been a Project/ Programme Manager for most of my career, on what effect the lack of Exhibition deadlines has had on the completion of projects? Are we generally modelling more or less in 2020? 1 1 1

Are we generally modelling more or less in 2020? I’d taken the decision to avoid giving myself any deadlines before Covid took away any potential exhibition deadlines. I’d say that it has made me less productive, but the flip side of that is that it has made the modelling I have done more enjoyable. I think that’s because I can pick up and work on whatever project I feel like working on. Currently on the workbench are an etched brass loco kit, several wagon kits, components to make half a dozen turnouts and a bridge (bashed from a Wills kit). Depending on my mood and how much time I have spare, I can pick up whichever I want, without stressing that it means that something else won’t be ready in time for a show. It’s also given the opportunity to challenge myself to learn new stuff. When we built BCB, out of necessity to meet the deadlines, we each focused on our own specialist subject; no deadlines mean I can use the time to learn new skills. That said, I do miss the social aspect of exhibition life. 4 1

RMweb Gold Enterprisingwestern Posted October 12, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 12, 2020 I thought you'd discovered the secret of (reasonably) eternal youth, if I'd realised it was that easy I'd have had something done a few years back!
