I have a similar arrangement on Mutton/Bleat.

I have put a 'baffle' against the middle row of lights which spreads the light a bit better. Avoids 'pools' of light.

R

I tried that, but the baffle cast stark shadows on the side screens, so I've left if off.

Have you considered a Bill or Ben loco as a starting point?

What will he do with the flowerpots?

Yes, the Bachmann or Hornby ones are way overscale though. Corbs of this parish has motorised (battery powered with radio control to boot) an ERTL one but I'm not going that far.

I reckon the Peckett will end up about 10% too big all round but will still look the part. It should be fun to do.

How close to the sides do your LED strips go?

You might find shortening them a bit to keep them away from the sides gets rid of the bright patches.

the Peckett would be too far from home base to be believable.

Pecketts, just like virtually all industrial types, roamed far from the location where they were built.

If the location justifies an industrial loco, then you're just as well off with a Peckett as with an Andrew Barclay or other types.

In terms of your current layout, though, I'd suggest waiting for the 48DS, due to it's diminutive size (in saying this, I would suggest that you run it without its attendant van).

Whilst I appreciate the erudite and not-inconsequential contribution you have eloquently expounded in your espistle, I am drawn to the conclusion that expenditure on such frivolous items such as Peckett would be counterproductive to the south-westerly and Cornish ambiance I am attempting to portray.

Oops.

"Oops"..........Is that all you have to say for yourself?

Yes, Sir, sorry, Sir.

It was the big boys made me do it, Sir.

Especially that Grayson fella.

Due to this thread:

I've extracted DM4MS from the loft and transported it to the Workshop.
