bertiedog
I had planned to attend the Chatham MRC show, bit it is new venue and smaller size, and the traders I needed are not there, so are there any other large SE Shows coming up this summer or Autumn with a bit trade attendance for the purchase of bits and pieces, especially track components in 4mm? The show must be near trains and bus services, as disabled. Stephen.
Chrisr40
Hi Stephen, not sure on the traders but I believe the bluebell railway have a model railway show coming up soon. They also have a collector's and railwayana fair later in the year which is an interesting day out.Erith/Longfield show has been and gone unfortunately as that is normally a good one. What sort of track bits are you after ? Chris Edited May 5, 2017 by Chrisr40

KevinWalsh
Stephen, There is always the Uckfield MRC show in October ( http://www.uckfieldmrc.co.uk/exhib17nf.html ). A bit of a shameless plug I'm afraid seeing as I'm a member of the club Kev
RMweb Gold BlueLightning Posted May 5, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 5, 2017 Hi Stephen, I can second Uckfield show as being absolutely brilliant! and disabled friendly, and I'm definitely not biased as a director of the club!!!! However as a director I can offer assistance to travel between the venue and the station if it is needed. PM me if you want to chat about it more. David Bigcheeseplant
Railex 27 & 28 May
bertiedog
Both Railex and oddly Uckfield are very pricey by train from Kent, and a long time on the train, leaving a rush to see things properly, The Railex one involves transferring from St Pancras to Marylebone Station, a bus trip I have never tried, or a taxi at £9.50 each way. Begins to get expensive. Stephen
stewartingram
St.Pancras to Marylebone, easy journey along Euston Road with plenty of bus routes. Though to be fair, Marylebone station is one short block north of the main road. However change buses at anywhere between Regent Park station and Baker St. station, and you will find one that terminates at the station. If interested, say so and I'll post the route numbers. Or have a look on the TfL Journey Planner website. Stewart
bertiedog
Route 205 is the one according to the web, direct from Opp St Pancras to the front of Marylebone Station, but I wondered how long it takes with traffic, the Rail enquiry site assumes using the tube but that's a lot of extra walking which I can't really do. It is because I do know London very well indeed that I raise these items, as one missed connection and a two hour trip comes a three hour and so on. Oddly Marylebone is a station that I have rarely travelled from. I used to walk from the BBC to Kings cross, but that would be impossible now. Sunday travel is out as the Medway Buses by Arriva only run a couple of buses a day, unless another £20 is allowed for taxi fares. Anyway thanks for the suggestions, it might even be cheaper to wait for the Warley Show! It is examining and buying track parts, 00 and P4 etc that I need to do, but maybe it can all be done online instead. Chatham used to be a well trade supported show, but seems a bit in the doldrums at the moment. i am not too concerned about the layouts, it's access to specialist suppliers that's important. stewartingram
Around 15-20 mins should be ample time.
bertiedog
Around 15-20 mins should be ample time. Last year it took an hour to get from St Pancras to the square with the entrance to the British Museum......grid lock, got off bus and walked. Stephen Stephen, As a thought, it might be worth dropping a message to COLINW of this parish as he normally brings a deputation down from the Tonbridge club and may be able to help out on the transport front.
