I have made a bit more progress with the SVLR with the addition of some scratch built buildings consisting of station building and shelter, Methodist Chapel and a small signal box.  They are totally freelance and not based on any particular prototype.

I have used 5mm foam board for the structure of the buildings and then covered with Slater's brick sheet (Flemish Bond).   This is my first attempt at scratch building and though there is room for improvement, IMO not too bad for my first attempt.

The latest addition to the Swanbourne Vale Light Railway, the Dapol (ex Lionheart) 64XX panier tank.  Lovely smooth runner straight from the box.   I have currently got  the layout set up in the front room lounge (with SHMBO permission) :),  and having a testing session prior to the Wexford Easter Show.  Much progress has been made with the scenic work, though there still remains a lot to be done.

This is coming on very nicely Irishmail; thank you for posting. You mentioned that the points were Marcway. Are they 48" radius?

Yes, they are 48" radius points.  I used layers of card to bring them up to the level of the Peco track. (plasticard could also be used)

Had a great weekend in Wexford with the Swanbourne Vale Light Railway.  The layout was well received by fellow  exhibitors and members of  the public,  and all the locos performed well over the two days.  The SVLR was also awarded the best 0 gauge layout at the show.

A busy scene on the SVLR at the Wexford Easter show. The 64XX & Auto coach have just arrived, the 3F is about to depart with a mixed goods/passenger working while the J68 is simmering away between shunting duties.

Been having a play about with the windows photo gallery.  putting a black and white filter on the picture totally transforms it, and I think does add a bit more atmosphere to the scene.

Had another great weekend with the SVLR at the First Bangor MRC Show last weekend, (25th-26th May).   I hope to do a bit more scenic work on the station end of the layout before the next show which is the Ulster MRC club show on 25th -26th August.

Had a great time in Cultra at the Ulster Folk & Transport Museum model railway day with my SVLR layout which was very well received by the show visitors.  It was a very good show with all the various layouts set amongst the 12" - 1' exhibits.

Glad it went well.

For completeness, here is the real Swanbourne, about a month ago, before the weather turned. The trackbed is being cleared, preparatory to the ever-awaited reopening of the line, although I don’t think the station will re-open, since it is a good stiff walk from anywhere.
