westerner
After the snow had melted a low flying helicopter took some shots. Which gives a nice overview of the layout. Oh and some Christmas reading arrived, which might give a hint of other things to come. Edited December 28, 2018 by westerner

sb67
Love the ''helicopter shots'' Alan. Your new project looks intriguing, I've got the 7mm modelling book, there's some good ideas in it. Steve.
westerner
Some more detailing done, non working lights under the canopy and over the end of the footbridge, if you can see them. and a couple of general shots. If you look closely at the last shot you may see some new fencing put at the end of the lines either side of the platform. 13
Tricky
All of this makes me want to build an inner city terminus...........Bristol......ex-Midland......no....must resist......enough on plate.....aargh!!! Rob. Resistance is futile.
westerner
A little bit more detailing, point levers now in place in the yard. and another person added, as the it tends to be the faces of figures that give the game away I always try to position them so that they never face the front of the layout. I normally have them with their back to the viewing side. This one needs turning a couple of degrees as if he has just come out of the shed and is walking down between the shed and the refuelling point.

Mulgabill
Good timing - what point levers did you use please? I need some and they look just the part. All the best
westerner
Tony, the yard point levers are Dart Castings.
westerner
Near enough finished. Guttering and down pipes added to canopy roof, although one end needs a bit of work. When I've worked on the other end all that will need doing is the roof and lights and the rest of the frame around the layout. westerner
A rare visitor to the Lane NBL Warship D602 Bulldog in the background you can see the end of the guttering, beginning to sag. One wonders how long the guttering and canopy will stay in place. and caught just departing
RMweb Premium Siberian Snooper Posted January 24, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 24, 2019 Droopy guttering is fairly prototypical.
westerner
I started work on the lower fascia panel, making a template out of scrap foam board. A coloured version I can assure you it wont be quite that yukee. I also worked on the grass bank to cover the middle 2 point actuation switches. I used my standard base of hanging basket liner. more work to be done yet.
westerner
A couple more shots of the grassed area.
westerner
A bit of wait but I was sourcing some decent ply for the fascia and then getting it cut accurately, Luckily my local boat builder did it using 4mm ply. So here is the bottom fascia and wings in an unpainted state. the roof is cut as is the proscenium arch. All have received a couple of coats of paint in the last couple of days. and in the next couple of days will be fitted. The holes are where the point operating switches are.
westerner
A little more work done on the fascia and proscenium, now all painted, the fascia still needs fixing in place and I am awaiting the signage and lights. I remembered to take the tub of screws away for the second shot. Hopefully when it is lit with its own lights the shadows on the wings will disappear.
Class 74
Wow, that looks pretty cool!!! Amazing layout, really like that. Cheers Simon

So that little tub is not a new scenic feature.
westerner
No it isn't Clive, it just goes to show that old age is creeping on and I should look more carefully when taking photos, perhaps a visit to Specsavers is in order. 1
westerner
You could now say that The lane is finished. The signage has been done as has the lighting. 3 one metre strips of LEDs 2 cool white front and back and 1 warm white in the centre. As I promised I have started taking photos with the lights. This lot are of a multitude of different types of Warships, a Fleet or Armada perhaps. And finally one of the parcels platform. 5
KNP
Very effective, it's amazing how some good constant lighting can further enhance an already lovely layout.
