Now that the retaining walls are completed and after a few running sessions, work has started with fitting a scenic area above the fiddle yard. I have fitted brackets to support a piece of ply cut to fit. I will be adding a road and a few low relief buildings.

post-31974-0-83616800-1501784117_thumb.jpg

On the front of the layout a fascia has been added, and work has started on the cutting using pieces of carved polystyrene glued down with PVA.

The signal post is an old Meccano type with the arms removed. Its not the most realistic but it is metal and sturdy for use close to the front of the layout.

As mentioned earlier, these are truncated tracks and the signal post is a remnant of the former running lines. It is also to mark the position of the magnets under the track. The other track has two sleepers beside the magnets. I am experimenting with small Neodymium magnets for use with Kadees.

Close up of the Neodymium magnets when I was fitting them. They will be covered with false sleepers and the ballast.

Hi all, and thanks to Simon and those that liked.

More progress pictures with the cutting now reaching the end of the first baseboard. The polystyrene has been covered with strips of paper glued on from an old phone book.

Buffer stop lights.

This method I have also used on Depot Lane http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/123198-depot-lane/#entry2772356 using LEDs and resistors from Layouts4U

Clasp building

Hi to all, here are pictures of the construction of the clasp building that I am scratch building from a sheet of plasticard.

It is loosely based on the one at the London Road end of Nottingham station.

It is a little larger than I had planned, so had to cut a bit of bankside away to fit

Hi to all,

I have added the roof to the Clasp building, and the panels have had a few more coats of paint.

Also put up some nice British Rail orange curtains, (just paper painted).

Note the old telephone, waiting for the crews next call.

post-31974-0-51777600-1504988478_thumb.jpg

Also guttering, facia panels and the roof has been felted.

The building is sited on a cork tile to represent the concrete base.

The retaining walls have been painted with a wash of paint just for a base coat, and to blend in the different types of plasticard colours.

Clasp building interior.

Fitted a table and chairs with crew, also posters and a clock. Im only doing the rooms that can be viewed from the front windows. I will be fitting interior lights later when the building is fitted to the layout.

Some great work Stu, I'm really enjoying the photo's. I really like the clasp building, did you scribe the panels on it or are they strips of plastic?

Thanks.

Steve.

post-31974-0-30521800-1505857238_thumb.jpg

Hi Steve, the panels were scribed against a steel rule.

Thanks for looking

Shaun.

That one in Sheffield looks all out of scale - O gauge tunnel mouth on an OO layout maybe? The track looks a bit rough too.

Good to see yours is much, much better. ;)

Yes I agree with you, the real one does look too big. I was using it for ideas with the masonry.

Thanks
