EnglishElectricFan
Hi Shaun How did you change the destination panel on the 108? Great little layout with some very nice modelling, especially the retaining wall. Regards Simon

Scooby71
Hi Shaun How did you change the destination panel on the 108? Great little layout with some very nice modelling, especially the retaining wall. Regards Simon Hi Simon, The 108 was purchased with the destinations Doncaster and Sheffield already fitted. It is in the Metro Train livery. The model is owned by friend Simon (Psiborg). Thanks for the kind comments about the layout. Shaun. luke the train spotter
Really brings the layout to life with some weathered stock on it. Those class 20s just look awesome and really suit it.
Scooby71
Signal Box update. I have decided to make my own signal box interior, here is the lever frame scratch built from plasticard sheet I'm not too fussed if the lever colours are not accurate, or it is not exact to scale, I am just trying to create the interior scene as I am illuminating the signal box. Chair, desk, fireplace and Signalman added. Block instruments and track panel board added. Wiring up the interior light L.E.D, and a flickering L.E.D for the fireplace. Ready for the night shift. Shaun.
luke the train spotter
Looks brilliant. Wish I'd thought of putting a flickering fire light before I stuck my signal box down.
Perfect Paul
This is looking really good Shaun, very realistic and captures the atmosphere well. Craftsmanship at work !!!
RMweb Gold jamest Posted January 12, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 12, 2018 That is spot on - I think you've been very sensible bringing the interior detail up to just the right level to benefit from lighting. I don't want to offend anyone that does like to super detail - but we all have limited time for this (or at least I do!). No point in 'going to town' on things you can't see. Far better to concentrate on detail like the fire - it looks great. Regards, James
Scooby71
Thanks for the comments. Signal box is glued down now. I have added two point motors on the running lines, but the sidings and loop are still operated mechanical, so there will be some point rodding. Shaun.
luke the train spotter
Point rodding is one of those things that modellers miss so it is really good to see them being used on your layout.
Scooby71
Point rodding is one of those things that modellers miss so it is really good to see them being used on your layout. Probably because point rodding is very tedious to fit. Also if a large area is to be done, it can be expensive if using the Wills kits. More progress with the rodding reaching the leadway on Drabford signal box. Shaun.
Scooby71
Hi to all, Here's some pictures of a recent modern day era running session on Drabford with friend Simons (Psiborg) stock. Thanks for looking Shaun.

Scooby71
Hi to all. Back to the detailing, and I have painted the finished point rodding. Now I'm adding some cable trunking, I'm scratch building it from scraps of plasticard. Thanks for looking Shaun. Scooby71
Cable trunking completed up to the signal box, and cables added using thin wire painted black. Two more point cranks added for detail, these are disconnected as there have been two electric point motors fitted. Fire buckets added Totley tunnel signal box is where the idea to have point cranks with cables and trunking. A Relay cabinet is also going to be fitted soon. Shaun. Scooby71
After finishing the cable trunking up to the tunnel, I decided to have a go at making some cable hangers so the cable could continue to off scene and add more detail to the tunnel. I thought it would be an easy task but after messing around with bits of micro strip and card and getting nowhere, I decided to try 1mm brass strip. Each hanger is made of two parts bent to shape and super glued together. Then painted. Superglued to the tunnel at even spaces. Thin wire painted black added, and tucked into the trunking Shaun. 6
sb67
That looks fantastic Shaun, a common bit of the prototype but not often modelled. Great Stuff. Steve.
luke the train spotter
I wouldn't be surprised if I was looking at real life in your last photos! Amazing work and they do really look the part.
Perfect Paul
I wouldn't be surprised if I was looking at real life in your last photos! Amazing work and they do really look the part. Luke, I have had the chance to see these "in the flesh" and they are simply amazing. There is no end to Shaun's talents. He is a very skilled modeller indeed, and is always willing to pass on his skills to lesser talented modeller, such as myself.
Scooby71
Thanks for the comments, and likes, much appreciated.. I think it will look better when the ballast has been weathered, but that's going to be a while yet. The latest addition is the Relay Cabinet. Shaun. Scooby71
A change of scene now. My original plan was to leave the area between the siding and the run round empty, as though there used to be a platform, and give it a run down look. But I have decided to add the platform to increase operation. This will be a parcels platform, and will be made to look as though it was once used for passengers before cutbacks to the line. The rear end of the platform has been removed to make way for car parking and loading area for parcels vans. Parcels trains will now run round on the station loop, and then move to the sidings, then back into the parcels platform. That will keep the station line and loop clear for passenger trains, and make operating more interesting. The goods shed to the rear of the station will now only be used for speedlink goods. Shaun. Scooby71
More progress with a walkway added to the platform ends. And the new parcels platform now has barriers added to the rear side. Mail train approaches Drabford. After running round at the station, the train moves to the sidings. Then backs into the parcels siding. Dmu arrives. Thanks for looking Shaun.
