DanielB
And here's the same for the Virtual Railfan cams (yes I subscribe to both sites!): Edited January 15, 2018 by DanielB
woodenhead
And people in the UK moan about trains going past their new houses: Half three in the morning and this appears on Main St (or whatever it is really called), La Grange - oh and there was one an hour earlier and another an hour earlier than that.
RMweb Gold Regularity Posted January 18, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 18, 2018 Given that there is a minimum of 0 trains during the night, then there must be a finite limit (based on line capacity), so a number somewhere between these limits must be the Lagrange multiplier... NickBrad
My struggle is finding a decent NS based webcam without subscription, (I have very limited funds as it is until I get back in work,) but the only options seems to be the likes of Horseshoe curve where you cannot easily identify loco numbers, let alone car numbers, which is something I am interested in. CSX gets lots of coverage in comparison.

I quite like the Thomasville NC one which is free & pretty much 100% NS https://www.tvillenc.com/train-camera-1/ just had a quick look & 3 or 4 manifest freights & a stack trains with all sorts of power including ex BNSF executive SD70MAC's & some UP run through Edited January 27, 2018 by 40019
NickBrad
Oh wow, I'd seen this stream before, (or one similar to it as a limited time free one, I didn't realise you could get it direct on the township's website. Thanks so much for that.

woodenhead
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ll3nQwUnY_k Rochelle IL is this week's freebie, loads of activity this morning so far. Been listening to the trains approaching and thinking these sound like UK diesel hydraulics, which is odd because normally they don't. stewartingram
A screenshot from the Horshoe Curve railcam yesterday: 4073 heads up the hill with the "Geometry Train". I guess this is their equivalent of our yellow HST? Stewart
woodenhead
Prefer the flying banana train much more conspicuous. Unless this is one of those X-files trains.
Dr Gerbil-Fritters
I've been watching the two cams at Flagstaff, the Horseshoe Curve, Fostoria and Deshler this morning. woodenhead
I saw those Geeps shunting a trash train earlier - not like shunting a train in the UK, it was about 1 am there when they were doing it.

stewartingram
I caught a glimpse of (I think) a rail crane coming down the hill at Horseshoe before dawn this morning. Stewart
woodenhead
This is different - caboose leading at Fostoria, the big flashy red light on the front hasn't come out well in the screen grab.
DanielB
Those Geeps and the caboose at Fostoria appear to be the local transfer power for the yards around the Iron Triangle. I believe it's a GP38-2 and a road slug rebuilt from a GP30. Deshler also has a pair that run the local freights, usually seen going along the single track over the diamond and into town. I believe those two are a GP35 and a rebuilt GP30 road slug. I've got photographs of them somewhere.
DanielB
Ah, here we go! Fostoria local power: Deshler local power. I thought I had a shot of the cab/slug pair, but apparently not. I do have this one though:
