They seem to change that all the time, you'd think there would be a solution that would last longer.

Mind, it's quite interesting watching the trains bounce over the crossings.

The BNSF orange SD40 is in play too

And both together:

Spoke too soon, it's stopped and half the train is split - looks like a failure of some sort and perhaps they are going to have to remove a wagon.

Being shunted back in, the other half of the train went the other way, presume to be also shunted into the yard

The train cams are all magnificent, but I can no longer raise any interest in the almost total diet of GE tractor clones, EMD SD70 variants, stack and TOFC or manifests covered in floor to ceiling graffitti.

Shame, but I seem to have lost interest in US railroading of late.  And it was a big part of my life this past 25 years.

Probably why i've found Belen so interesting, its different, although the SD40 makes me think there is a 66 hiding somewhere

edit: you might like this UP recording, there is hump shunting in the background as well.

Edit 2:

This is probably right up your street, from 1992 so old school America.

I kind of understand where you're coming from, despite being a newcomer to the US scene.... I think this is one of the reasons I generally prefer shortlines, not only are they easier to model, (repaints notwithstanding,) but they provide more variety than the class 1 railroads. i honestly cannot tell the difference in most of these locos just from a run by on the camera

Renton seems to be just an assembly plant and has a production line similar to car manufacture. Just about everything is outsourced:

Outsourcing

Many components are not built by Boeing but are outsourced to other manufacturers both in the US and increasingly around the world. This may be either for cost savings in production, specialist development or as an incentive for that country to buy other Boeing products. Here is a list of some of the outsourced components:

  • Fuselage, engine nacelles and pylons - Spirit AeroSystems (formerly Boeing), Wichita.
  • Slats and flaps - Spirit AeroSystems (formerly Boeing), Tulsa.
  • Doors - Vought, Stuart, FL.
  • Spoilers - Goodrich, Charlotte, NC.
  • Vertical fin - Xi'an Aircraft Industry, China.
  • Horizontal stabiliser - Korea Aerospace Industries.
  • Ailerons - Asian Composites Manufacturing, Malaysia.
  • Rudder - Bombardier, Belfast and AVIC subsidiary Chengfei Commercial Aircraft (CCAC), China
  • Tail section (aluminium extrusions for) - Alcoa / Shanghai Aircraft Manufacturing, China.
  • Main landing gear doors - Aerospace Industrial Development Corp, Taiwan.
  • Inboard Flap - Mitsubishi, Japan.
  • Elevator - Fuji, Japan.
  • Winglets - Kawasaki, Japan.
  • Fwd entry door & Overwing exits - Chengdu Aircraft, China.
  • Wing-to-body fairing panels and tail cone - BHA Aero Composite Parts Co. Ltd, China

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but subscription service Railstream - https://railstream.net/ also has a youtube feed now - they put a different handful of their camera's up as ad-free previews every week.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-bPJdfIq5zqIP_PQ7rUJaA

Current free previews at the time of writing (till the 30th Nov):

* Chesterton IN - very busy NS location just East of Chicago, this is one of the 'free' ones via the railstream site, but watching it via youtube you don't get the adverts breaking in.
* Coal City IL - BNSF ex Santa Fe main line just West of Chicago
* Rochelle IL - looking at the UP ex CNW with the BNSF ex CBQ in the background
* Franklin Park IL - Suburban Chicago, yard leads to CP's Bensenville yard in the foreground - Metra too...good for freightcar watching!
* Chicago IL - a short way East of Halsted St Metra and the Dan Ryan expressway, viewing the inner end of the BNSF 'Racetrack' hosting Metra and Amtrak, and the connections to NS and CN(IC).

Chicago has just had it's first winter storm, and is looking reasonably pretty (from a warm room a few thousand miles away!)

You can skim back through the last two hours of action at each site also which is handy.

Not operated by Virtual Railfan (although I do watch their Barstow cams quiet a bit) but there are two privately owned cameras around Tehachapi in Californian that make superb viewing.  Not a busy line, currently about 13-16 trains a day during December daylight hours on average.  Interestingly mainly BNSF traction, given its a UP route, but some of the workings are remarkable - there appears to be a thrice-weekly loaded grain train heading westwards that always has 4 locos on the point, three mid-train helpers and two rear helpers, along with around 140 wagons!

The guys that run it have one camera at Cable (between the City of Tehachapi and Tehachapi Loops) and a second on the old depot at Tehachapi.  Well worth a look if your into modern day American traction, although with work windows and the current downturn in traffic for Christmas, it does require patience....
