Boxcab
Just a couple of photo's of the 3D mock up that I made. This was to help visualise how the finished model should look. The blue bit that runs the full length represents the conveyor corridor that was a later addition to the factory. http://goo.gl/maps/jZF1cbJogvk The black bits represent tanks/silos & the building in the right foreground is the house where the company started.
enginelane
Unexpected parcel from Model Junction Slough - other US stockists available, and in it the sample sheets of brick, window and block for Project 0 buildings. I think it's going to be Slater O gauge brick as the main covering with more work to do on the glass block windows!

enginelane
London bound today to visit 4D Models who claim to stock more bits and bobs for architects than anywhere else to see if I can find a cost effective solution to the glass block windows
enginelane
Brought back a goodie bag of different materials from 4D Model Shop in London to try to help create the buildings as well as scaring myself silly by walking across the glass panels on the Tower Bridge
enginelane
Adding the covering materials to the cut off warehousing building. This scale eats materials! Found a plastic pipe so first two silos / tanks are ready for further modification and trialling on the layout.
enginelane
Morning spent drawing up 2 panels for the base layer of the factory building. Putting it to one side for the rest of the day as seeing rectangles everywhere
enginelane
Hour spent this morning drawing up different modules to go into construction of the 6 ft long building. Black lines indicate cut outs for the windows and the red lines the different layers of brick.

enginelane
The window count is already over 100! long island jack
Will investigate, I have found a frosted pvc sheet that I think will create the glass effect got to be worth a look, painted and stuck between your frosted pvc would work, think there's a bigger sheet, all depend how bigger squares you need, there are fabric ones which are bigger sheets. enginelane
Very efficient postal service from Hobbycraft, other companies are available, and indeed Ray I think you have hit in a possible solution. Certainly for HO / OO I think it would work well. Going to experiment with removing some of the grid pieces to make a “block” larger
enginelane
A little work on the grid and I think there could indeed be a cost effective way of producing the glass block windows. Sods Law of course and the windows as drawn will need to be modified but I think that will enable 6x8 grids be be produced as the main window. Need to find a glue that will stick the pvc frosted sheet and flexible plastic grid together and dries clear
long island jack
try and find some of this stuff or similar make, think Wilco's do one, goes on white, dries clear, make sure it's a paintable translucent sealant, there water based and clean up easy (clear silicone will work but its messy) https://www.amazon.co.uk/UniBond-1577012-Purpose-Paintable-Cartridge/dp/B004R1ZHMY

DanielB
Nice! Not sure if it's of use, but there's a UK based company called Kitwood Hill Models that make O scale laser cut kits and parts. There's some very cool industrial doors, windows, and corrugated sheeting that you might find useful. Cheers, Dan
