Just added this to the list of layouts I’ve built and it’s the eleventh so have decided to call this Marshall No.11,  “You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten...Where can you go from there? Where?” ;)

Wait till I get to the layout called, The answer to Life, the Universe & Everything :sungum:

Work continues in line with the build it from bits budget :) Scraps of polystyrene and the denser blue foam used for landscaping. The loading dock and retaining wall scribed into blue foam with a pencil and painted with tester pots.

Loving the layout so far! It's great to see another micro layout utilising the Hornby Peckett! Do you have the W4 variant? I'm struggling to get it running smoothly on DCC, regardless of how clean the track is.

Yes I have a couple of them and they run well on dcc. I use electrofrog points and I also make sure to clean the inside head of the rails by running the rubber along at about a 45° angle as on sharp industrial radii they can be rising very slightly on the corners as the flange grips and climbs.

Thanks Paul! Yeah mine are electro frog as well. I’ll give the inside of the rail a clean as I only clean the top. Everyone I’ve asked as told me stay-alives are the only way forward but I’m determined to get it running well on DCC on it’s own accord.

Cracking photo by the way!

I was running the little Hornby Ruston on this during testing and that hiccuped a couple of times but it did show where there was paint on the rails still and was fine once it was cleaned. It’s become my test machine, if that runs then it’s clean! ;)

Do you run the Ruston with or without the match truck ?  I find on DC and no truck it still runs very well.

Yes without it here too, haven’t digitised it yet.

Never have any problems with my 2 Rustons and both run without match trucks.

A little side project has seen No3 re-motored with a spud. Seen here alongside my original number 5.
I found a spare chassis casting with no wheels or motor and just glued in a plasticard support for the spud so it’s just an option to the original chassis and the couplings are fitted with the existing screws so no alterations required.

Pic of the flat plate glued to the casting and the bogie just screwed to it with supplied screw. The plate is 2mm thick with a 6.5mm hole drilled in the centre for the tenshodo boss so the plate sits on the top of the spud casing.

A thought occurred this could be chocolate ore . . .

Or what? Liquorish? Lemon curd? Anything to feed a sweet tooth will do!

It's looking rather lovely, Paul.

I'm finding problems with my Ruston on OO-SF chaired track, even with the match truck attached (it's going to be removed), so I have obtained some finer profile OO Black Beetle wheels to use instead, hope that works.

Oh there are many options in my retro box, including custard and sausages, but so far no pasty based wagons . . .

A rather lovely picture of a pile of chocolate ore at the top of this post with a slight spillage of white choc

I totally blame this photo for me purchasing "The Earl" on Saturday instead of the open wagons I intended to buy!

Didn't say so earlier, but the point rodding system with the magnets is genius!

Went for a walk yesterday and thought, “that’d make a nice backscene”, so I uploaded the photo to Printed.com and hopefully will have a backscene next week.

I like them with the full bold colours to be honest, I like the ‘busy-ness’ of it. This was the result on my other two layouts. I can see the argument for the more theatrical approach but I prefer a painted theatrical style if it’s faded.

I like the density of the background to your German outline layout -  somehow that "blends" really well with the foreground. Maybe it is because it is an urban environment?

I also like hand painted backscenes - there are some superb efforts on RMWeb; most recently I was impressed by some layered building outlines in receding tones which I thought really effective.
