Good evening Jesse,

I don't have any pictures of J39s in LNER condition, but the following might help......186630790_J39648081955.jpg.09894849fc246b65f35b1ee362d9ed1d.jpg

All of them are towing the far more-typical smaller GS tender (in one case with stepped-out coping).

Dave Ellis does this type.

Regards,

Tony.

P. S. Please (all) observe copyright restrictions.......

Excellent Tony, much appreciated.

Don’t you love it when your mad ideas work....

I had a pair of these David Geen L&Y single holster wagons gifted to me by a member of the BRMA, they were very easy to put together and they run beautifully. I liked the look of them running, but wanted to add a load, but i knew I wouldn’t be able to glue the load on to both of the wagons otherwise they wouldn’t pivot properly. I couldn’t believe it, I actually used my brain before going in with glue.....

I decided on glueing the pipes together first, then glueing the chain to either side of the wagon and a small dab on the top of each pipe, allowing the wagon underneath to pivot ever so slightly, just like the real thing and it works!

Another project was to build a SEF chassis and place it under a Bachman j39 Body, well here it is so far, far from finished, but it shows how it sits and I think it looks perfect. Needs a bit more weight added and the chassis finished, but she’s getting there.

Great work Jesse, love it when a plan comes together.

Regarding the J39 tender, I think this is the kit Tony mentions. If you look at the third of Tony’s pictures, the tender chassis is noticeably longer than the tank but I think the kit has 9CAC2396-E839-4883-A2FD-6C80B24C985F.jpeg.631b3484f193261487ae9c57e6df1792.jpegE59001B3-3C2C-4B95-AF27-497035B61783.jpeg.e863535aa684e72394e69af92f4150ac.jpeg exaggerated this.

It was a nice kit to do and didn’t take long either. I think it was completed within a day.

Three kits on the go here, all Cambrian Models, apparently there’s a workbench there somewhere....

Also had my first Cobalt failure today, and it had to be on one of the mainlines too, lucky the local hobby shops still open....for how long I don’t know

I’ve found a photo of a J39 with the tender that Bachmann has done on the ECML not far from Grantham I think....so one would presume the one I have is accurate?

Maybe, but where's the fun in that?   Everyone has one of those.

One of the ones I run on Grantham (2696, I think) had the stepped coping tender, but the other one (1273) will be receiving a 3500 gallon (short) one in due course.  I think I found a K3 with the stepped out tender and swapped them.

True true, but, if it’s an easier way forward to get a running goods loco before I finish the SEF kit, then I may take that road

Accurate?

I have no idea, Jesse.

If it is, it's very rare on a J39. That said, it'll enable you to get a loco up and running quickly.........

You, and all your family, please keep safe.

Regards,

Tony.

That’s what I’m thinking at the present moment, she’s ready to rock n roll, if only accurate in a small, once in a blue moon way.

Goods loco’s are what I’m short of, the B16 still needs the araldite on the cylinders and I need to finish the SEF J39 and the B16 DJH kit here, plenty to do!

we are all safe and sound, hope you and Mo are as well, it’s my birthday today and it doesn’t seem like it is, pubs closed, can’t see my mates, oh well, plenty more, hopefully!

Same goes to all my friends on RMWEB hope you are all staying safe in this sh*tty time.

Happy birthday Jesse,

What's that; 23? 24?

Either way, at some time this year you're 50 years younger than I am! (And always will be).

Who'd have thought it? I'm best mates with a hairy Aussie young enough to be my grandson!

Best regards,

Tony.

Please may I ask the source for your 3500 gallon tender?

(I think I did see a post somewhere by the estimable Mr King on shortening one of the larger ones.)
