Bargain Hunters Mark 2

Recommended Posts

After the previous thread was locked down.

Post your links to useful modelling bargains here. And that includes tools and materials that may be of use, not just models.

Please note that these bargains are to available others - at the time of posting - and not that you've just obtained the one and only available item.

A quick reply to say that the posted bargain is now out of stock may be useful.

Please add any extra information that may be helpful to others - for example - only available to shop callers/not an online offer etc.

The odd discussion and question about said bargains are welcomed, but don't go mad with it, or the self-appointed Bargain Hunter Police (definitely not me!) will be on your case.

If it belongs in the ebay madness thread, then post there instead.

There's no need for "me too " or "there's one less now" posts. Just tick the "Thanks" box.

Likewise - no need for "thank you" posts - just tick the "Thanks" box - that's what it's for.

If you agree, don't post about it, tick the "agree" button - that's what its' for.

There's no need for "nothing in it for me " either.

If you think it is NOT a bargain, then don't post a reply unless you know of a better deal.

Amazon bargains are often only bargains for a few minutes.

These posts will be checked and then removed if they become non-bargains.

It may be that it's a bargain in another country - no need to reply "but if you add customs/VAT etc...."

Also - this is NOT a review thread - see the respective manufacturer threads for those.

This is also not the place to ask about "where can I get  xxxx?" Ask that in the relevant sub-forum.

For particular details about name/number/livery - please ask in the relevant section

Discussions about the merits of courier/delivery companies are not welcome here - there are suitable threads elsewhere on RMweb.

Irrelevant/off-topic posts will probably be deleted as will self-promotion by dealers/traders,

Happy Hunting!

Cheers,

Mick

edit: post deletion feature added.

edit: Ask elsewhere for advice.

edit: Details about the model - ask elsewhere

edit: Low stock reports are not "bargains"

edit: Amazon and agree added. Amazon bargains are often very limited in time/quantity

edit: Bargains in other countries

edit: Ebay madness.

Sounds good. I deliberately stopped posting on the previous thread after the aforementioned "Police" piled in for the odd word off topic.

the whole idea of a Bargain Hunter Thread is/ was to alert guys like me, who live in france, to Bargains, preferably rail ones, that i have missed, on line,  To that end the previous thread was excellent. I am hopeful that this new one, will do just that.  Off topic, is the thorn in the side of all forums, and others that i was on, have brought in more moderators than you can throw a stick at. I would like to think that this overkill approach, will not start to apply on this forum, else the departure rate will match that of the others. john

Clearly bargains will in some cases reflect the eye of the beholder but Rails today have added 4 x B&C portholes for £99.50+ p/p that's more or less £25 a pop. Ind coaches are around the £32 mark.

Ian Allan in Birmingham have some low relief Scenecraft buildings (Shop fronts etc.) at about 30-40% off list as well as some other Scenecraft items such as "Highley Cattle Dock"

There are also some SR Brown Plywood Vans, as well as the LMS type cattle wagon in both NE Brown & NE Bauxite all with useful reductions

Also couple of GWR Shunters trucks as well as the previously mentioned Coal Trader triple pack (weathered) and some BR & Thomson coaches.

No Locos or MUs just now

I have not checked their other Bachmann Scenecraft prices but I was looking for a 44-101 pumping station and I found Pufferwillies (Sheffield Transport models) are selling it at £13.50   http://pufferwillies.co.uk/uk2ecommerce/product/bachmann_scenecraft_44-101_oo_scale_pumping_station_/  . This compares to other retailers online where it is between £25 and £30.

Pufferwillies web-site requires adding to basket to see if an item is in stock.

Doing this for the Pumping Station gets you this message

Sorry! the following product(s) are out of stock

SVR shop at Bridgnorth station has Bachmann olive green sand wagons at £10.71, £2 cheaper than Hatton, and a few c/c porthole coaches at £33, along with a couple of discounted locos and GWR shunters trucks at £9.99.

Mike

Ah yes, I noticed them the other day. I also noticed some N Gauge reduced stock, including some weathered 16 tonners at £8.50. If only they were in 00 gauge . . .

No models as such, but London Transport Museum have a flash sale on;

https://www.ltmuseumshop.co.uk/sale/all-sale-items

If you are looking for something for the younger members of the family the LU Brio style models are 20% off.

I also stumbled across this when looking at a certain deals site;

https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/thomas-friends-trackmaster-thomas-sky-high-bridge-playset-4161-delivered-toys-r-us-2764685

No doubt the Rev W Audrey would be turning in his grave, but If you cliick through and watch the video it looks quite entertaining!

Could be good for pointing the grandkids in the right direction towards railway modelling...!

Just seen on eBay, a Hornby current spec Royal Train class 67006, one of the special edition ones which I understand are hard to get hold of now, for just over 100 sheets:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-R3272-Class-67-67006-Royal-Train-EWS-Super-Detail-Version-Boxed-00-/382169414220?epid=1143733414&hash=item58fb127a4c:g:dhQAAOSwTFNZbzRn

Upon reading the description, I realised this is actually the eBay store of my local model shop, so I can confirm this is a good seller and an actual model shop that is selling. No connection other than a regular satisfied customer.

Hope this may be of use,

Jack.

If it's rare and as it's second hand maybe a brand new one at £124.50 is reasonable?

BRM are doing their supermarket deal this month again, although this time it's a free copy of Narrow Gauge World, not Garden Rail. Last time the double mag wasn't available in regular newsagents/ Smiths. I bought a copy in Sainsbury's this morning.
