Gaugemaster in Ford at their open weekend have a shed load of discounted cosmetic damaged Oxford Intercity Mk3's.

Did someone drop an entire pallet full of the things or something? Mind you that weird shade of grey is a pretty obvious cosmetic issue for a starter.

Thanks for putting this one up. My Beautifull wifey bought me one as a surprise.  Lovely little model. Both of them!

I’d just like to remind the forum of Transport Models of Preston's "Reclocation Sale"; they have 10% off Bachmann locos and 15% off Hornby locos, as well as 25% off new coaches and wagons (Bachmann, Hornby and Oxford amongst others), as well as 25% off their already reasonably-priced second hand items.

Second hand items include Bachmann MK1 coaches (maroon mainly) for £11.25 (!) with discount, many 2-axle wagons such as MFA, MHA and MEA ballast/coal boxes in various liveries for £6 and under, Hornby OTA timber carriers (of which they had at least 10) for £11.25 and some Bachmann bogie wagons such as an MBA 'mosterbox', some EWS livery BDA bolster steel flats and RMC Roadstone orange stone wagons for around £15. The amount of tempting stuff was vast!

Once again I’ll reiterate that we must use our local model shops or we may well lose them. The situation at TM is still unclear and therefore if you’re passing by or local I urge you to pop in and support an outstanding local business.

Thanks,

Jack.

You can get the trapezoidal shape 62L one for £6.99 at Wickes. I bought a load a few months ago of the 62L at £10 for 2!

The 62L Really Useful Boxes are getting hard to come by now. I was looking for more and managed to come across 3 for 2 on Really Useful Boxes at Robert Dyas. That works out at about £6.66 for the 62L box (£19.98 for 3).

If you spend over £50 you also get free delivery at the moment, and I got 1% cash back from Top Cashback.

Shameless plug - if any of you happen to sign up to Top Cashback (it is great and there really are no catches) I’d be appreciative if you could sign up via my referral link! https://www.topcashback.co.uk/sub39h. Since signing up in 2014-ish I’ve earned over £1k in cash back for stuff I would have bought anyway.

Happy modelling!

For US modellers (or Rule 1 collectors with a penchant for shiny things) Walthers have their Metroliner EMU cars down to $49- about 40 quid each on today's exchange rate! I can vouch for their quality, I bought a pair when they were about 60 quid each (grrr). Internal lighting, marker lights, and reversing lights, and a very nice pantograph.

Edit- here's a link https://www.walthers.com/budd-metroliner-electric-multiple-unit-emu-parlor-car-standard-dc-amtrak-r-888-phase-i-wide-red-blue-stripes

You'd need to buy at least a pair, and they did work in sets of 2 but sets of 4 and 6 were common.

Like the BMW car dealership selling a £30,000 car, today only this car could be yours for just £1,000, but we have none in stock. They'll be back in stock tomorrow, but at the full price!

Bought these magnifying glasses, arrived in a week and work really well for the price (£1.50!). Probably not ideal for extended use but great value:

The MRD has quite a few surprising and in truth telling things in its sale - the Southern RF in BR green is down to £33 a few months after coming out, and the amount of Bachmann coaches they’ve got in stock (Thompsons and Birdcages) show they haven’t sold at the £50+ RRP.

Some Hornby locos - even with 30% off - still look too pricey to me. ‘The Last Day’ King and A3 are still hovering around £130, even with 30% off. You can pick up alternate versions of these locos for under £100 - including in this sale!

Rails of Sheffield have sets of bargain bundles for their ltd. ed. Freightliner Class 66, 66614 'Poppy', with either 2, 4 or 6 Dapol HIA aggregate hoppers. Not sure how much of a bargain the sets are, but may be of use to someone....
