Some have already spotted that we are running an online "Black Friday" 50% discount on selected lines on our website this week, so dig in while you can.

Well that was annoying, just went through and ordered a few WR books and at the end of the order process found no provision for PayPal......:(

Oh well......maybe next year?

I saw a Hornby train set (forget which - "Highland Railways" 0-4-0 and a few trucks) in the mince pie section in ASDA yesterday.

I presume there were more in the toy section.

It seemed to be £50 (or maybe £49.99)

Edit - and indeed there was a collection of them in the toy section. I think they were £60 though, not £50.

They had an 0-4-0 trainset on offer last year, I've not been keeping up with Lidl offers recently so I don't know if they're doing it again this year.  Aldi had the Railroad Javelin trainset this year for £80, but it was online only and sold out too!

You could follow the order instructions and give us a call by telephone and we can sort it out the old fashioned and friendly way where people talk to each other if that helps?

I could, but it was just an off the cuff impulse buy after reading the post above, not bothered either way, but thanks.

Too used to Amazon ease of purchasing I think ;)

John, Paul, George and Ringo. The open wagon is R Starkey and sons....

Seems someone at Hornby likes music other than Prog Rock. :music:

Jason

It didn't even register....

People keep saying that Hornby name some of their other "clockwork" mice after Marrilion performers and such, but those names don't mean that much to me.   R. Starkey & Sons?  Crikey!

Perhaps Hornby could have produced a CD to go with the set with Ringo narrating a short story of a day on the branchline with the Country Rambler....

Note that the standard chuck is of the collet type and cannot be used with drills unless they are shouldered.

Buying the keyless chuck with it is worth the extra £6.60

LiDL have their Parkside bench/table saw in my local store at about half-price (IIRC £49.99 dropped from £99).  However, whether it is a bargain is perhaps debatable as the on-line reviews of it on some DIY forums are not very good. Any views on (a) whether it is OK for infrequent users and (b) if you can easily get new blades?

I don't know what Lidl are like but Aldi's after sales service is good with replaceable parts available for electric tools (don't know how detailed they go though)

I'd be surprised if the blade isn't a standard size (it's easier for the manufacturer!)

Lidl's after sales service is good - either the item replaced or refunded IME. The trick is ensuring the receipt is still legible.

Fading is quite common and quick on Lidl's - and probably others - receipts. I usually take a quick pic on the digital camera and leave in a file on the computer. That way you have the info that can be verified on their own system in the result of a warranty claim.

My local Lidl (Ashford Kent) has 2x the Hornby rambler set reduced from £79.99 to £49.99.  Includes a 0-4-0 loco, two wagons, oval of track and a controller.  Pretty good value Christmas present for someone?

I could have sworn the 3 sets they had in the new Gosforth Lidl in Newcastle were £24.99...

The "inexpensive" Balco 3D printer from Aldi is currently included in their Black Friday offers at £150 (less a penny).

https://www.aldi.co.uk/balco-3d-printer/p/086887240233900

I don't know how good they are, but at least its easier to return for a refund* if its completely useless!

* Unlike something cheaper direct from China...
