The thing is it would seem they keep finding stuff. I am sure there were only 1 set of ZCVs and ZBAs when I posted. Then I thought should I buy them for my "heritage " Mainline 33, went back and there was 2 sets of each. I didn't bother but then out if interest saw today both lots have gone. But a pack of ZBAs has appeared again!

That does seem to be the case, I've seen items I've bought showing a higher qty. a few days later.

In accordance with government guidelines here's an obligatory link to a bargain (I think) Hornby Seacows for under 20 quid, usual source:-

I think they have a cave. Some of the boxes smell distinctly musty. Contents are fine though.

The lockdown situation has really made a lot of stock on shops without much of a web presence come to light. For example I got something I have been looking for for a while earlier this evening at a great price from another site just because I randomly searched for it every few weeks and got lucky tonight. It was on a shop that must be listing old stock (as it never appeared in my previous searches). Not much else of interest for me on there though YMMV

Wouldn't want to have to deal with a musty box <Frankie Howerd style sideways look at camera>  I have noticed the transparent plastic inner packaging has gone it bit dull/glazed on a couple of the wagons I've bought but contents fine.

During idle moments I too have been trawling a few other toy train sites for similar 'new but old ' bargains but not found anywhere to compare with Hereford.

With all due respect, I haven't seen you post a single bargain, certainly not in recent times.  I have been following this thread and its predecessor since their respective inceptions.  You have, however, engaged in plenty of very wordy chatter and that is fine (in my opinion).

Don't fix what ain't broken and the dent in my credit card is proof that this thread is working!  Live and let live, remember the delete button and scrollbar.

Back to the bargains (again) and back to Hereford Models (again, again):

Bachmann 32-912 3 car Class 108 in BR Blue.  Hard to find these days and 55 quid cheaper than RRP at £114.65...

http://herefordmodels.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=340_350_355_357&products_id=11588

Bachmann 31-995 LMS 1000 in Brunswick Green.  Getting more difficult to find and nearly 60 quid cheaper than the next cheapest alternative supplier, £101.95...

http://herefordmodels.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=340_350_355_357&products_id=7191

Two left of each.

Alun

31-995 available for £3 under the Hereford price at Footplate models with three left in stock at the time of posting:

https://footplate.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=38_60&products_id=5218

It does pay to do just a little bit of research before posting.

Thank you for posting a bargain.  For the purposes of accuracy, they weren't that price when I posted the Hereford price two days ago.  Not my era, but circa £100 is a great price.

That shop is a good find as it is a bit of goldmine for older items that are sold out elsewhere. For example they have the Farish Blue Pullman set (not the Collectors Edition) for only £250 which is a good price if you just want the train itself.

Don't know if this would accompany any of the Bachmann Cranes recently released but this seems a good price for a limited edition breakdown coach?

Not bad, but it could only be used with a LM region crane, its a Dapol C096D 57 Ft Stanier Non Corridor Brake painted olive with some lettering.  Buy the kit for a tenner from Hattons and have fun doing one for yourself!

Not quite a bargain, but an opportunity..

several said they missed out on Hornbys Rocket, Rails has 6 for sale new at £295 (offers available), which considering theyve sold for upto £400 recently this is probably a last chance at a Triang boxed Rocket

I don’t know in this specific case, but Rails normally accept offers up to about 10% off the asking price.

so if you are interested there are currently 4 left, maybe try offering around £265.

I managed to obtain one from a dealer in Germany a while back for around £200 including delivery, that dealer Modellbahn Union has sold out, but it might be worth a trail of other European dealers, as the set is bound to be less in demand over there.

This sale appears to be going on until the end of this month. As (in this case) you are supporting a charity purchasing feels better - is that a good way to sell it to the other half?

It's just a shame it seems hard to identify who is involved in the sale unless there is now a list somewhere

Thanks for reminding me to look at Herefordshire again.  It's been getting hard to find an Oxford N7 in lined BR below £100 lately and I've finally decided I will give one a try.  They had 2 in stock but I've just made sure it's only 1 in stock now.  £92.50 + p/p
