Something seems a bit off about that site to me... Why would a shop stock so much Hornby (relatively high value compared to their other items) and only list them under "Model Kits"?

i have used them before, not for train stuff though. you can pay through paypal so your covered. the only issue maybe if the item turns up faulty etc.

I seem to remember someone confirming that this trader was bona fide.

However, there was some posts about the sourcing of items advertised from outside the UK and possible H M R C duties to pay.

I asked about them a while back on here. Somebody said they had ordered from them before no issues.

I paid by PayPal so my £120.99 is coming back if it doesn't turn up!

I think it's a lot of different stuff not a dedicated model railway shop so that's why I bet.

That was my post asking about them. I was asking about 2 traders, this one is UK based. The other one was HK based with the customs issues I think.

This was my reply when someone wrote similar, last April...

They're fine, just not a toy train specialist.

I bought a few Hornby models from them back in March when they also had a 10% off code. Was unsure at first as it took a whole month to arrive. Not sure if it was to do with the virus or just their system. Either way when adding topcashback plus reward credits, my Virgin 87 effectively worked out at less than £100. Prices tend to fluctuate almost weekly in a similar way to Amazon.

A lot of their listings say 7-14 days to dispatch which suggests they have to order it from somewhere else first.

Some like the 1:1 black five are same day dispatch so they must have those in stock.

Quite a lot of new items have just appeared on the Hereford web site, mostly in one off quantities but as usual with some good prices.

No photos, and some vague descriptions (i.e. Flying Scotsman just described as an A3) so you need to do a little work. (Edited to add: as helpfully pointed out below, the name and number are given further down - under the "add" box).

Thankfully there's nothing I want there because I've already given them too much money recently.

It's good of them to provide some lockdown entertainment though - I've been enjoying coming back every day to see what else has appeared.

You're sorely tempting me.  Amongst the new stock they have Hornby Large Prairie in BR black (6145) for £119.99 + p/p which is quite a keen price, maybe others have it a bit cheaper but it seems a good price to me.  8 in stock, and I have to say 8 still in stock though I might weaken over the weekend.

Thanks for the heads up, just treated myself to a DCC fitted N15 late crest for 86 quid i.e. about half current list price. Still a few others at similar prices

In most cases it says the name or number further down, as in the main title says the class, BR etc and then below the price it normally gives a name/number

I do wonder where the heck they're finding this continual stream of new/old stuff - the N15 I've just ordered was released in 2008! Sorely tempted by a class 56 - not to run on the the same layout at the same time mind you. honest guv.

Honestly if you have ever see the basement in the shop you will understand where these things are coming from!

back in about 2007 I got a rake of ‘new’ stock replica railways MK1 intercity charter coaches from there, all at about £10’a pop!

Ive got to work a train to Hereford on Thursday morning but unfortunately I get there far too early to justify hanging about until it opens and having a proper look round again

If you have ever visited their shop you will know why - it is a veritable Alladin's cave!

Notice the Eurostar has gone but a further look reveals TTS sound fitted ‘maude’ for £135

seems to be sold out everywhere else or at a premium on eBay

https://clarkrailworks.com/collections/new-arrivals/products/Hornby-oo-r3600tts-nbr-j36-class-673-maude-dcc-sound

Sent the Eurostar to my father, he gifted himself for father's day :D Thanks Jim!

And so I don't get yelled at for not following the rules - here's Hornby R3919 PD Ports Class 66, 66109 'Teesport Express' for 55 GBP. Bure Valley Models http://www.burevalleymodels.com/p/17266/R3919---PD-Ports-Class-66-Co-Co-66109-Teesport-Express - six (6) available at time of posting.

No connection to BVM, but previously happy customer and that seems like a cracking price for a new 66, I can't see it anywhere else cheaper.
