Here we go again bye bye BH MK2!

Not helpful as it only adds to the tally of non bargain posts.

I suggest an exchange rate of two bargains per whinge :)

Here's my two for my comment above.

This one at more than 50% off has to be good?

Likewise this:

I know the 20% off eBay coupon has been mentioned before, but just in case it ends shortly South Devon Railway have over the last few weeks added a number of new items:

for example - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-R3707-Ruston-Hornsby-48DS-Queen-Anne-Longmorn-Distillery-with-Wagon/383653207692?hash=item5953835e8c:g:b0AAAOSwCQJfIB-i

having a quick look back on earlier posts this seems to be about the lowest price it has been (£57.59 + post).

Certainly I was very pleased with my 009 purchase a couple of weeks ago:

the GVT Baldwin - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bachmann-391-029-Baldwin-Class-10-12-D-4-6-0T-Glyn-Valley-Tramway-Lined/383630064928

at £107.99 + post. Still four versions available!

Have a search through their other items - most of them have the 20% coupon offer.

This seems a bargain to me:

38-100 Bachmann 34 Ton PNA Ballast Spoil Wagon £7:76

Temporarily out of stock but you can order it (Kernow have always delivered in the end in similar instances)

http://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/p/12412/38-100-Bachmann-34-Ton-PNA-Ballast-Spoil-Wagon

Hi,

The RRP of this wagon should be about three times the RRP shown on the Kernow website so it may be an old entry.

The wagon does not appear to be on the Bachmann website at present.

Regards

Nick

I can't advise on a specific bargain (I bought it!) but Bill Hudson transport books are doing free delivery at the moment. They don't seem to come up in the usual book search engines but found the book I wanted from them at a third the cost of other online sellers via page 4 or 5 of a tenuous Google search. Sometimes insomnia has it's benefits!

Watch out their prices do not include VAT this is added at checkout. Still not bad prices.

Strange, I just ordered an 2EPB and a 66 and the total matched the price on the page (plus 4 quid postage)

It is confusing/strange the way the VAT is separately itemised but not added to the Total cost

Amazon have Hornby bow ended Collett coach for £28.14 again.  I just picked one up, other variants at higher prices.  As we know this offer often disappears quickly due to their algorithms so may revert to £40+ soon.

the pick of the bunch appears to be a Jubilee for just shy of £80 but lots to be had to suit many tastes https://www.modelrailwaysdirect.co.uk/locomotives-steam/Bachmann-31-190-jubilee-45575-madras-br-black-british-railways-lined-black-riveted-stanier-tender/

What about this?

http://herefordmodels.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=524_1&products_id=12432

To me (might be wrong) it looks like a super detail A4 and 3 teak coaches (which are also good detail AFAIK for £150.

There are some interesting train packs, I can never work out which ones are the  HiFi models and which aren't :-/

Have they got Tony Robinson working for them?

As I'm wondering where they are digging them up from. That's about 12 years old.

It's also interesting to see the prices of the items. For example the GNER 225 packs. The one that is named (R2427), with working panto is cheaper than the one that isn't, with fake panto (R2002A).

R2427 is from 2004 and R2002A is from 2002 so the pricing is a bit weird as I would expect the newer model with better panto to be dearer. The RRPs according to Hornby guide also show R2002A being more expensive. Was it around then they moved production to China? Or did they reduce the price because the competitiveness of the model was dwindling?

Not on the scale of the Model Railways Direct sale (still bitter, missing a bargain sound Class 47 is one thing, but going to the effort of getting permission from the wife and then missing out is on a completely different level!), however anyone in the market for a OO code 100 single slip might like to head over to Ellis Clark Railworks - preowned but described as "As new", 7 quid each!
