I am in the US.  Bure Valley will not sell to me:

"As we are unable to obtain cost effective goods in transit insurance, I regret we do not ship outside the UK."

So how do other UK sellers ship to me in the US with no apparent problems?

The Bure Valley Railway are a relatively small operation that plough all of their profits back into the operation of the railway. They've also had a tough year for reasons completely irrelevant to this thread. Shipping outside of the UK is obviously more work for them, so if those are their terms, so be it.

They are good value especially if the 67 is of appeal. I got mine a while back for a similar price and put the 67 on eBay for £80 or 85 with the certificate and it sold within hours as I was just wanting the Coalfishes with unique numbers.

Having received the pack yesterday I have to say I'm extremely pleased with it all - especially the '67'. For around £60 - 70 I've now got an up-to-date model with all the features I need. It won't be going up for sale.

Goods in Transit insurance for UK will cost a certain amount, Goods in Transit insurance for USA/Canada will cost a lot more, for a variety of reasons.  Greater distance travelled/more likely goods go missing/are damaged, if a claim is brought in US/CA courts, damages awarded are likely to be much higher than UK.

A small business may not be able to afford overseas Goods In Transit cover, or they may do so little overseas business that it isn't worth the extra cost.

A larger UK seller with a lot of overseas customers will be able to afford overseas Goods In Transit cover, and be able to absorb the cost of the higher premiums.

Retailers don't have to sell outside their own country if they don't want to.

If you haven't yet had enough of 365games and purple A4s they have a single one in stock at £113 so you might actually get this one if you order it.

Saw that earlier too.

However id rather spend the extra £17 and support a proper model shop after trying twice to purchase from these guys only for them to keep cancelling.

You may only find out when you need to make a claim.

All insurance companies are the same until there's a problem.

Mike.

Be assured insurance companies are not in it for your benefit, they are in it to make a profit for their shareholders

The loco split from the set is also being flogged off for £69:

Which is ok if you actually want a Railroad B17 in BR Green with a Unicycling Lion. I suppose there must be some West Ham fans about.

I didn't bother highlighting the locomotive as the proper "full fat" version is only a little bit more if you look for it.

Definitely seen them in the £80 to £100 range.

I got Gilwell Park when Hattons were flogging it for 74 quid a while ago, but 69 quid for even a Railroad 4-6-0 isn't  that  bad!

How much did you end up paying?

£117 after they were 'out of stock' on their website but had it in stock on their eBay store at a higher price where there was a 20% off voucher. Bit of a faff really.
