There are some folk round here who have a very, very odd view of how retailing works...

Before this goes rapidly O/T from bargains, (and thus needs a Mk3 version)  please can we refrain from discussing it here.

I have to say both the big box shifters Christmas advent bargains didn't really strike me as proper bargains, more being offered at the prices they should have been retailed at from the get go.

And apart from the Dapol Class 50, there was nothing in N scale, again.

Kernow have an N gauge offer today. A revolution IZA cargo wagon.

Hattons have a couple of variants of the Janus shunter for £49.50

On another thread somebody mentioned Caerleon as having wasp stripes, so despite having no need whatsoever for one, I was overcome with a weakening of the resolve and a future BR green version joins the ever burgeoning roundtuit pile!

A lot of them seem to be on the eBay home page or it comes up on an item with a message like "Want to save 5% on this? Here's how".

Just the sort of thing my sceptical self disregards every time as some kind of soft marketing scam!

A bargain book for BR 70s blue afficianados at the Works:

Unfortunately all B/W photos

Bought this via their website a few weeks back and its first class. The BW pics add to the atmosphere of decay that the 70s railway was infamous for.

Today's offer from Rails of Sheffield is a Farish Castle in either GWR or early embalm at £84.50. May not have been able to resist that one.

Although not advertised Hobbycraft have added the Hornby Santa Express train set into the half-price sale. Not sure if every store has them, they are not showing on line, but   York store definitely had some left in stock this morning. As now only £25 each too good a bargain to miss for a late Xmas pressie for the grandsons.

HI,

RRP on a 4 CEP is now £449.95. I'm currently saving up for a 4 BEP, a Class 117 and a 2HAP.

Regards

Nick

That price is daylight robbery in my opinion. I picked one up for £80 albeit second hand in plain green but it is in excellent condition. Defo right place, right time if that's the retail price on a new one! You can get two car southern EMU's for between £80 - £120 second hand if you dig around.

If anyone is interested, there is a Dapol J94 'Austerity' but in NS (Nederlaander Spoorweg) class 8800 colourscurrently under bid at 86€. There's about 1 day 5 hours to go. No idea if it's a reasonable price or not.

Cheers,

Philip

A nearly new  Bachmann Class 3F in LMS black went the other day for 35€ - I should have bid!!!
