Hornby R3452  6825 'Llanvair Grange' - BR lined green late crest

Rails of Sheffield  -  £89.50

Kernow  -  £89.99

Hattons  -  £109

It always pays to go compare!!

I always shop around to see if it's really a bargain, so easy to do these days.

R3376  E5022 class 71 Green

Hattons  £128

Kernow £94.99

there are always these sorts of price diffs, whether in sales/bargains or not, eg:

370-425 Graham Farish N Gauge Midland Pullman Train Pack

Kernow £369.99

TMC £279.96

if we were to list every one of these we'd soon clog up this thread!!

cheers,

Keith

For those in France - and perhaps further afield - Pierre Dominique are having a weekend sale until midnight Monday and again next weekend from 18:00 13th March to midnight 16th.

https://www.pierredominique.com/p386-promo-flash.html?promo=1&display=marque

I even noted a few Hornby items in there.

I thought this looked like a bargain for somebody wanting an EWS 67 and some Coalfish wagons:

https://railsofsheffield.com/products/29923/Hornby-r3399-oo-gauge-ews-freight-train-pack

The fact the train itself I wouldn't expect to have been that common a sight is another matter. Just seems a bit of a random choice of loco and stock to put in a train pack!

If it had been a DB 67 I'd have had it.

Bachmann 32-178A early LMS and 32-176 early BR Crab - basically half RRP at £74.50 at Rails of Sheffield.

I think that's a bargain, as they are a really nice model - and prototypically, pretty heavy duty haulers.

I need to renumber mine to 'late LMS' numbering, which will take a deep breath or two...

Rails, got an email this morning with a list of apparent bargains, bagged a Lyme Regis limited edition set for £125....which I thought was good and missed a couple of weeks ago.

Today's Deal of the Day from Rails, LNER J11, @ £79.50:

https://railsofsheffield.com/products/30582/Bachmann-31-318a-oo-gauge-gcr-robinson-j11-lner-black-lner-original-0-6-0-steam-locomotive-no-5954

Once again I got my timing wrong -- I bought this loco just last week!!! Still, it was a 'bargain' then too...

cheers,

Keith

Not strictly a 'bargain' as such so OT (mod delete if inappropriate) but a price drop - unusual for a limited edition. The NRM says its forthcoming Class 33 will be £10 cheaper than expected.

It must be the 'high density' headlight savings... :jester:

Amazon uk has Hornby Collett coach R4876A for less than 20 quid. There were 13 available but now down to 11. Prices fluctuate. I paid slightly more for mine. The R4876 I bought for £24 is now about £43.

Definitely a bargain when you consider new 67's are over £150 RRP and 3 Coalfish are £60, and whilst running as a train was not common, separately the loco and wagons were common in their period. Ideal for modellers of the EWS era. Manage to find one photo courtesy of Hattons of a such a train!

Colletts still have one set for £130

Yes definitely, the loco isn't a lot of good to me though which is a shame as the coalfishes would be.

I thought I had seen it cheaper than that but only places that are out of stock

https://www.modelrailwaysdirect.co.uk/train-packs/Hornby-r3399-ews-freight-train-pack-limited-edition/

Not sure if they can still get them from Hornby? Hornby still have stock on their website so can dealers request that stock themselves?

I recently (a couple of weeks ago) got R3750 Belmond Pullman set for £205 from Orwell which I thought was good, if I said £35 per coach then £100 for the loco. I would have posted it on here but it was the last one. But my point is this pack is better value still, although more obscure and has been around a while.
