Indomitable026
First off all I need to notch the end of the legs so they sit right against the board side frame.
BrianCook
Does anybody know what this contraption is? (the thing on the right - not the class 47) TPS? Does it deal with 'spent' oil? TPS I believe stands for Tilted Plate Seperator, a device developed by Derby RTC in the 1970s for the removal of oil from waste water emanating from the depot. They were fabricated from plate steel and wire mesh. They were generally placed on the outfall from the depot. Another example can be seen from the observation deck of the NRM in York. Indomitable026
In the end this is as far as I got, I've machined the legs to take the cross members. I got called down the pub to watch the rugby...
Indomitable026
The next job is to assemble the leg sets. Here I'm using the baseboard as the square (assuming that it is of course). Another cup of tea while the glue dries...
Indomitable026
Now I'm gluing the other half of the 'L' shape together, I've also added the hinges. I don't think its going to matter but both uprights on this latest piece are slightly banana shape, you can see they pull in towards the centre by a couple of mm. Annoying as I wanted a third hinge in the middle and it doesn't look great.

Indomitable026
Now we know the “missing” line from the film script, preceding this:“And that, My Lord, is how we know the world to be banana shaped.” Thanks for that: a puzzle of many decades standing is resolved, courtesy of the magic of RMWeb... The problem is only half my world is banana shape. If it was all banana shape that would be much better, well consistent at least...
RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted November 26, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 26, 2017 Doors cope with only two hinges. And are you sure it's not the baseboard bowing out by a couple of mill ?

And are you sure it's not the baseboard bowing out by a couple of mill ?The bow is the other way - crossways, one leg to the other. It was my last bit of wood and I haven't got anymore... Indomitable026
Glue dry and I've not offered the leg set up into place. The legs will bolt to the board in three places, something I can live with as there's going to be very little assembly work at a show.

Indomitable026
Both leg sets are now assembled and have been offered up to the underside of the main baseboard.
RMweb Gold Regularity Posted November 26, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 26, 2017 Bonus: when the layout is not in use and the weather is wet, you can use them to dry clothes. Watching clothes dry is slightly more exciting than watching paint dry: usually a bit quicker.

RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted November 27, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 27, 2017 Will the FY attach to the main board using the same leg bolts? Or will it also be free-standing and held tight with clips & dowels?
