Enterprise coach numbers

Hi,

I've been looking to find a list of the new livery Enterprise coach numbers and meanings.

Three examples are 5560808 90 01-6, 507018 91 02-0-2 and 5560888 94 03-6

I know the bold numbers are the older type coach numbers but what are the other numbers for and anyone has a list or link to them?

Thank you.

Wiggy.

Neil, the following is from Wikipedia:

Enterprise Train Formation

The formation of the train is: DVT with First Plus, First Plus, Buffet Carriage, four Standard Carriages, a Mark 3 Generator Van and a 201 Class locomotive.

Driving Van Trailer First

All trains have a driving trailer, numbered 9001–9004, containing a driving cab, a luggage area and 29 first plus seats. It weighs 42 tonnes and has a wheelchair space. The cab is only used for services from Belfast, as the locomotive goes north.

Trailer First Plus

The second carriage in the enterprise train set, numbered 9101–9104, is a full second first plus coach and has 47 seats (no wheelchair space or luggage area). It weighs 40 tonnes.

Trailer Buffet

Next coach, numbered 9401–9404 is a buffet coach.

Trailer Standard Disabled Space

Coach four, numbered 9213–9216, is standard class with a wheelchair space.

Trailer Standard

Coaches five through seven, numbered 9201–9212, are standard class (no wheelchair space).

Trailer Generator Van

Since 2012 electric power for the train is no longer delivered from the locomotive but from a separate generator van. Their final numbers are 9602, 9604, 9606 and 9608.

I can only guess the 'white numbers' (50..., 55...) you can just about see in the end of the video are part of the new EC numbering scheme.

Hi Kirley,

Thanks for the reply but I've already seen that, its the new numbering information I'm after.

Seen photos from 'The Wander' of about three coaches, close up with the new numbers but I could do with a whole rake formation.

Regards,

Wiggy.

Hi 33lima,

Great shots and thanks for your time, but I'm after the coach numbers on the side of the coach not the end ones.

Three examples are 5560808 90 01-6,  507018 91 02-0-2 and  5560888 94 03-6

Don't suppose your made a note of them?

Thanks,

Wiggy.

The numbers on the lower sides of each coach are the same as the ones on the end, Wiggy, tho spaced in pairs eg 92 10. As visible on the generator van.

Zooming in on the original pics, there are traces on the diner and possibly others of a smaller, lighter-coloured almost vestigial number next to the larger ones on the side, which could well be in the format you have described. If I get a chance, I'll take another look tomorrow or later in the week and report back!

Yes I know what you are saying but there are White numbers in front of the Black numbers and numbers after them.

I think its something to do with the EU.

So when you look at the side you see in White 5560808 then the coach number in Black 90 01 then more numbers and dashes -0-2 as an example.

Photos of the side coach numbers of a whole rake would be great if you can in order from one end to the other if possible.

Thanks,

Wiggy.

I got the following reply from Noel Enright (IE)

"They are EVN numbers-European vehicle numbering system, all EU countries are required to have these on the sides and front of the trains-just in case they want to operate the Enterprise in Bulgaria..!!!

It's the EU that dictates the EVN numbers and both NIR and IE have to comply and yes there is a slightly different numbering system for each type of coach and Loco,"

Hopefully the operation of the Enterprise service won't be adversely affected once the UK leaves the customs union. The long numbers seem plain daft considering this stock is on an island with a railway gauge that's different to the rest of the continent.

Ok, mind the gap, here we go!

Different set on the 12:35 Enterprise ex-Belfast Central today (17 Aug '17- hey, that's one of those semi-reversible dates!)

Starting this time at the loco end and working 'forwards' to the driving trailer, and noting that not all vehicles have full side views, we have:

GM 206, with it's own Euro-number, 92 60 0310 206 -4
