Sorry Tim....there's 94xx's to follow in the New Year too....

At the moment we don't accept limbs for payment but we could add that option online if required? ;)

I wouldn't have a leg to stand on..

In a surprise twist, I've just been notified that the first of the sales area limited edition 45's have arrived at Barwell! As you know they were originally expected in January of next year however their early arrival is a nice Christmas present.

Speaking of Christmas, that will probably mess up the deliveries of these to your local retailers, quite when they will be arriving in stores is anyone's guess, but we could be lucky and get them before the big day!

Here's the Wales, West Midlands, West England & Ireland model, 45040:

Excellent news, be a nice birthday present or 2 :-)

Why does the cost vary so much on these from region to region? Kernow being the most expensive.

Evening amarr40,

As I understand it, the thinking expressed at the time when the Reps Limited Editions were first introduced (early 2017 I think) was that it would encourage people to buy from lesser known retailers in different areas, not just the “box shifters”. Also, the bigger shops were encouraged not to heavily discount the models, again trying to level the playing field and encourage purchases from other shops. It could be that some are still honouring this whilst others are not. Assuming of course that there was an agreement on not discounting in the first place.

thank you, that helps explain the regional difference.

Could be Bachmann have upped the price since the May 2019 announcement and others have not reacted as yet. Given Kernow did not virtually double the price of the Hornby L&M open coach unlike others the I would expect they are quoting the price they are now being given by Bachmann.

45040 incidentally is being offered for £135 by Trainstop of Knighton on ebay. None of the others have yet appeared on their.

Noted another supplier quoting £159.95 as Bachmanns price so it does look like they have gone up and in which case, assuming the 15% initial discount limit applies, then £135.96 is the price below which annoyances might be issued by Barwell to a retailer.

Antics have 45040 for £123.20........

Nice to see wire handrails on the front rather than previous moulded ones

Its a few improvements on top of 45048...

Plated over roof access steps are rivetted, boiler port grill covered, and painted cab hand rails.

oh and I missed the obvious big one...

correct shape nose grill, with a basic imprint cover of the access plate, which is much less obtrusive.

The grills and panels are looking good too..

it appears to have just been withdrawn, as 58017 just arrived too..:D

Overall impressed, only gripe is the missed opportunity to make it 6 axle drive instead of 4, but this is a good model, long overdue, roll on a 45/1 with headlight.

I think 45022 is going to be the winner in this batch, 45022 being a Lancashire and Yorkshire passenger regular until its end, and being the last loco on the Waverley route earlier in its life.

45041 looks a good bet too, its preserved and moved around quite a lot in preservation.

Good choice 45040, never got an orange stripe or head light, withdrawn 07/1987, came back as 97412 until 08/1988

I'm holding out for the Heljan unnumbered version. I already have the nameplates and the numbers for 60 which is how I remebered it when it was a Holbeck loco.

I've somehow succumbed to ordering both 45040 and 45022. Must be that pent up desire for a 1980s era Peak. No doubt I'll end up with at leats one Heljan example in due course too. For various reasons Lytham St Anne was one of the celebrities of the fleet.

I was thinking tonight of doing a 45059 (F&W copy pit railtour of 1987, replacing 40122) , but on examining, one point of note, the printed nameplate print is raised against the body.

i haven't seen this before.

Removing the nameplate may not be straight forwards. I cant tell if its a well applied transfer (more likely) but its not a straight forwards tampo print, though a tampo print is on top of the raised finish.

in the parts bag is a 2 part nameplate consisting of backing plate and plate for the letters as per the real thing.

How many of these Reps Ltd edition 45s are out there ?

I'm guessing they are all names sadly

There are four different running numbers , one appropriate to each regional rep.  And yes they're all namers, with the names relevant to each sales region.
