Good to know that the Bachmann tanks are available as a spare, I am about to start converting a Bachmann 57/3 chassis to go under a Railfreight European Class 47 body I have purchased from ebay.  I am hopefull I still have some Heljan parts in the scrap box which I can use, however it is very good to know that should they be the wrong version I can easily get the right version direct from Bachmann.

Incidently the coil cooling pipe from the 57 chassis has ment that I could finally finish off my Vi Trains Fraggonset 47/7 respray which has been waiting for said part for a very long time!

No, the tanks on 1764 are not the same as on 47164. They are exactly as in the Hatton's photos.

Having searched the web, we now appear to have a 5th version of 47/57 underframe tanks as fitted to 1764 and others ?

47 035 appears to have the same tanks as your 1764 - which are commonly described as 57 tanks - possibly meaning there are 2 versions of the 57 tanks ? The 1st type being fitted to 47 035/1764 and perhaps others, the later type to Union Jack 47 164 and possibly other models also....................

The underframe tanks on the 57/0s are different to those under the 57/3s and 57/6s. 1764, 1500 and 47035 at least have the 57/0 version, whereas 47164 has the other.

I ordered two sets and got one set of class 57 tanks... Interestingly the'y the two switch version and are a much nicer moulding than the one switch version I've got. Just a shame that they are wrong! I've emailed asking for the correct sets to be sent. I included a picture this time!

See post #6 above. the correct early as built (with water tanks) assembly is/was ? available from the Bach spares Dept part No: ASM5......

i ordered two and got one set of later class 47 tanks... I got back in touch on 17 November (including a photo) and they said that they would look into it. I am still waiting to here back, so will chase in the new year. I thik ASM5 may just be generic 47 tanks, rather than a specific version

The website and catalogue images of 47209 Herbert Austin show the wrong tanks yet again http://www.Bachmann.co.uk/image_box.php?image=images1/branchline/31-663.jpg&cat_no=31-663&width=800&height=257 (check the right hand end where the tanks shown have a diagonal piece whereas the correct ones are square - see these on 47256 http://www.Bachmann.co.uk/image_box.php?image=images1/branchline/31-656.jpg&cat_no=31-656&info=0&width=800&height=261). Let's hope they are correct on the production models or they'll need another delivery of spares....

Well spotted.... and with plenty of "frothing" over what will or will not be announced next week ? Bachmann need make more of an effort to get future models correct - there's no excuse for not using the correct parts when they already have them in most instances, it's all very well continuing to increase RRP's but QC needs to improve also.

According to this image http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/130695-Bachmann-incoming-january-2018/?p=3025117 Bachmann has fitted the correct underframe tanks to 47209.
