I tried my normal product, which works fine on Hornby and Bachmann, but it took the paint straight off, luckily I had tried it first on an outside cylinder, which I will be repainting black anyway. ndg910 Posted August 21, 2019 Share Posted August 21, 2019 I have the GWR 705 and I thought the shirtbutton looked overscale and a tad ridiculous. I used a tiny bit of T-Cut and lots of elbow grease using a cotton bud and water and they came off fine with no sheen to report where I had rubbed. After all, no one's going to be running a caliper over your model. How are you going to alter the profile of the frames to match the older style of cab? While these engines are undoubtedly stunning examples of what can now be achieved in OO, I felt that none of them appealed to me as a pre-nationalisation modeller. One quasi-accurate GWR option wasn’t going to appeal to everyone, so when half the engines belonged to nationalised industries they were doomed to gain many admirers and fewer buyers. I seem to recall that when these and the P Class were announced, Hatton’s said that the intention was to make enough to have stock to sell for some time rather than have them all sell out early on.
