jonny777
I was shocked to read his obituary in the paper over the weekend, as I had no idea he had passed away. What a wonderful combination of subjects to paint, wildlife and steam locomotives. He will be sorely missed. I met him one day in the signalbox at Cranmore, which for a time was a gallery and sales room for his prints; and if one was lucky enough to find him there he would sign any purchases for an extra contribution to the fund for the restoration of Black Prince which at the time was in bits in the repair shed. . I found him to be a quiet but very approachable chap. RIP
RMweb Premium MJI Posted September 25, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 25, 2017 RIP, met him the once, I have a signed print somewhere. Not much in the news, I am surprised.
RMweb Premium Colin Posted September 29, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 29, 2017 I saw his obituary recently in my paper, and I was most disappointed that his contributions to the world of railway preservation - and his brilliant railway art - were both completely ignored. The writer chose to tell only half the story IMHO.
46256
A real gentleman spoke with him at Warley exhibition....very sad to hear this news
RMweb Premium NCB Posted December 26, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 26, 2017 Very sad, only just came across this. His railway interests extended to having a 3mm/ft model railway of his own, quite large with some great scenery (as one might expect).
