Is Union correct with 2x sprinbok fitted?

should the cabside not be either blank or coat of arms for the preserved period?

You know, after you asked that I had wondered myself. As I can only remember No.9 carrying the Coat of Arms & her LNER Worksplate. But I did some digging and found these on Flickr:

All the photos are from the same chap and as it's tag "60009 - Aberdeen Ferryhill c 1980"

Hope that helps :)

From the photograph it appears it was Bittern that holds the world speed record for a steam engine!

You are confusing Mallard's plaque with this one on Bittern in a similar style:

One thing that is incorrect though is the undersized lettering on the front of Mallard. The size used is as preserved, not 1938.

Here is the painted sample of 60007 - looks good - the only things wrong with it that I can see are the blue buffer beam (should be black), gold nameplate (should be silver), the top of the tender should be black not blue and the lack of smokebox number plate.  As long as Hattons correct these small details in the final version, I will be ordering one.

Wheels on both sides would be good.

Sharp exit (through the tender)

Not sure if anyone has commented already, but the A4 front lining is much too wide apart on all the versions.  I presume it will be corrected?

Tim

Have a look back one page in August. I would guess not being amended since more samples have subsequently come out.

Looking at the photo it looks as though the tender is a Streamline corridor type whereas it should be a normal corridor type (as per ex A3)

Thanks

Looks accurate to me apart from the missing beading at the top of the rear.

Thanks Hilux,

I was only looking at the photos on the post of NSP, on that photo you can't make out that there's any beading there. Thanks for your photo of the back of the tender which is as it should be, flat as apposed to curved like a streamlined version. The beading looks to me slightly smaller than that shown on the real thing.

Totally unrelated to this thread, but lovely to see the late Roger Barker at the helm of No. 7 in your photograph Hillux.  A great chap for whom I always had a lot of time and respect.

The lining on the real 60009 around the nose isn't correct, which doesn't help. But yes, there's something not quite right about the model. The angle of the nose below the shedplate is almost vertical, rather than being a nice smooth curve.
