LBRJ
This is fascinating and very "scrap yard" like indeed. The picture of the 60 had me thinking it was real for a few seconds!
bazjones1711
The layout now needs the fine details added in , the lighting tower needs CCTV cameras and led lights , scrap handlers weathered , signage etc... On a small layout you can really go to town on the detailing which i love doing > Nearly everything on the layout is handbuilt , like the scrap skips , bridge. First pic is of the planning stage Edited September 30, 2017 by bazjones1711
enginelane
Troutons also drew inspiration from the same scrapyard.

5050
An Andrew Barclay, I believe? I do believe you may be correct Sir. Painted in a fetching shade of blue I think. Rather similar to your sausage T-Shirt...................
avonside1563
I believe they had several steam locos over the years, here's a link to one of them. https://www.flickr.com/photos/blue-diesels/15215748874
eastworld
Nice to see scrap modeled that looks like the real thing - quite often it seems to have been the contents of a bits box that has been emptied with little reference to what real scrap looks like. RMweb Gold Scottish Modeller Posted October 9, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 9, 2017 (edited) Don't forget the saddle tanks that worked there until quite late. Looks to be an excellent little layout to me. HI all, Correct - Andrew Barclay saddle tank in dirty scrapyard blue/black. I took some photos of the site in 1977/78. I have a feeling I loaned them to someone and may not have got them back, I will try to locate them (or the negatives). Thanks Edited October 9, 2017 by Scottish Modeller
avonside1563
Dug through a couple of industrial railway books that I thought might have photos of the scrapyard and found this one of Andrew Barlcay 'Harry' at work in the yard. avonside1563
Further digging has brought up this image of 'Harry' under a previous name of 'Chemicals' at Shipley.
