Limited edition 66

Hi everyone,

I can see the complaints about those wanting the end transfers but the model is completely accurate as it was at the launch event in Jan 17 and I suspect would have been commissioned to that livery spec. Asking Bachmann to add these later would cost and delay the model. The TMC seem to have come up with a detail option to update the model to satisfy the needs of others to be right up to date. The TMC specialise in customising Models and clearly list these costs as extras. Looking forward to getting my model soon.

Thanks

Mark

Hi

Just read the TMC advert in Brm. It states clearly " Please note, front detail" First London - Yiwu train" & logos are available for an additional £15.00. So there it is. You are paying extra for the transfer! Hth

Stephen

Hello everyone, sorry for being a bit slow at noticing the confusion with the front end logo details. I'd just like to try and clarify a few things and explain why it has been done how it has been done.

The reason the class 66 is being produced without the front end detail is down to a couple of reasons:

  • We commissions the model from Bachmann over 2 years ago before the Class 66 ever had these front end logo details.
  • If we changed our model to include these logos the model would got to the back of the queue and could be another year or two before it appears.
  • If we added the logos to the model it could have added more than £15.00 to the RRP at this late stage.
  • The locomotive has run with and without these logos, its easier to put these transfers on than take factory applied tempo printing off.

Hi

Thanks for the replies.

In the last update from TMC they say-

The locomotive was prepared for the arrival of the first train on 18th January 2017 in front of the assembled press at Barking Rail Freight Terminal. The Yiwu – London graphics were applied for the launch event and it is in the condition that the locomotive is being manufactured.

I was taking this as the front end wording was being added at the time of manufacture. As per their December picture.

Regards

Stephen

It was never our intention to mislead people with the press release. When we talk about the London graphics here we were referring to the graphics on the side of the model, which is how the model is being manufactured. This press release was written before we decided to offer the additional front end logos for an additional £15.00. Sorry if this has mislead anyone.

I hope this clears things up, by offering the front end logos we were trying to please our customers not infuriate them. We're actually doing these transfers at a our cost price so we do not profit from them. The price may go up after the model is launched so get your pre orders in now!

The class 66 is currently 'on the water' and the Class 66's will dock in the next month or so at Bachmann and we will start to dispatch the pre orders.

All the best,

TMC

Very nice indeed, I see it comes with a DB logo on the front if you don't have the additional First London - Yuwi Train label added.

The DB livery looks so much better than the EWS livery it replaced.

My thanks to Chris and the team at TMC, excellent service from ordering to prompt emails when in stock for payment. A quick phone call and order quickly despatched, well packed and quick delivery times.

It’s a cracking model with the larger DB logo and all the additional branding on the body sides. Hope it proves a success for you.

All the best

Mark

Has anyone received one with the additional London-China stickers on the front?. Ordered mine over a week ago and it's still showing on My Account page that it's "Awaiting Fulfillment".

NEW FROM TMC

The DB YIWU is also the perfect donor to make the new loco number series; MARITIME INTERMODAL ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR and so on.

Treble cab windows, correct lights, fuel tank length, grills, roof, and side doors. This new number series differ from the loco MARITIME ONE. MARITIME INTERMODAL ONE and onwards are a different 66. The original less fuel efficient therefore longer fuel tank version. This new number series also differ as they have the DB logo on. TMC is now offering numbers 1 to 4. And they dare use close up pictures. Normally  resprays don't look this good this close!

What to look out for; on class 66 models the decals often don't sit neatly into the corrugated sides. This often looks terrible close up! The orange cant line (or catenary warning lines) are badly masked or painted so wobble and change thickness. And often nameplates are printed which although kind of 3d are no match for a perfect pair of nicely etched nameplates and can look trash on close inspection. So I'm quite stunned with these lovely new bright blue Maritime locos! The best 66 resprays I've seen so far. Look out for those checks if you are ever buying a resprayed 66. Only buy ones with close up ultra clear images.

This is also a fast response as this livery has only just been applied to the real things. Some are still being painted to my knowledge. I think circa 10 or more my end up like this.

We are happy to take pre-orders over the phone without payment. Website orders are slightly different as the system takes the payment upfront.

I have just received my raffle prize this morning and very nice it is too, thank you.

I’m guessing the Chinese train one didn’t sell then .

timing was unlucky with the hattons 66 coming as well ( although that hasn’t reached expectations ),
