'Ullo Tim, gotta new motor?

I have indeed sir, I've been after one for some time and think I was lucky to find a shiny new one.

No more toys this month, I need to source some lighting for my boards.  I was reading the scribblings of Rice yesterday in this Camouflage Layouts Shoved in the Corner book about LED strips and think that's the route to go down.  Also from BRM and @SouthernRegionSteam's excellent article on the (not so now) black art of 'lectrics for LED lights.

Top stuff!

Well, more beans spent....

Got myself an LED lighting kit online from some 'lectric geezers in Bristol.  I went for the mix of led types so I could play about with various lighting effects (think there are about 16 settings for both the cool and warm un's).

The kit powers 60 LEDs a meter (30 of each), up to 5 meters long, but I only need two strips of a meter, one for each board.  If this isn't bright enough then I'll go with two strips on each board, one above the other joined by the connectors I bought along with the kit.  These will be stuck to 90° arc aluminium profile ordered from the same geezers.  As @SouthernRegionSteam mentioned in his BRM article, this acts as a heatsink too.

Got some feet too, no legs, just the feet.

Time for another lay down.

Cheers

Dubya

But those two don't don't go together you need something named after a mobile phone network for the Gate set and van of the road for the motor.  You are about to be fleeced some more.

Are these ok as far as traction goes?

Terrible, you've such a short running line, have you considered Z scale.

The 33's in HO if that helps... na thought not.

I'm glad I've moved on from the idea of doing Sidmouth in it's entirety in 8' in OO.

Anyway, some other geezers done it in OO+2.33, so I don't need to :jester:

Edit: me LED's have just rocked up too.  So just a room to redecorate and the boards to turn up, hopefully by the end of this month (the boards that is, I have 10 days, whilst Nola is sunning herself in the med, to decorate the room.  This is not taking into account fry ups, watching train porn from the dvd stash, drinking some cydors or generally being my usual lazy git self).

Thanks Rob,

One of the original boards is now the surface of my workbench-in-a-cupboard, which I built last summer.

We had the house completely rebuilt last year too, jacked the top up, removed and rebuilt the walls and dropped the top back on.

I took some extra days at work two years back and haven't really had much time, which has taken it's toll but I've kicked that in the arse and got the Horn.

The new boards will have a permanent home across the width of the back bedroom, 9' total (6' scenic).  This was imposed on Mrs Dubya... but she gets the room decorated* whilst she goes on holiday to Malta, the week after next.

* I have just had a Weston's order delivered, so I can't guarantee this will actually happen.

No breath holding, I'll be back, hopefully a damn sight quicker than the last time.

:rolleyes_mini:

* that's Pete in the picture, I don't know him but he's there for illustration purposes only.

Hi Tim

For a second I thought Mr Degan had a double. Pete is a diamond geezer, a very active member of DEMU.

Don't know about the "E" bit, but I'm warming to the idea of homing a diseasel in the shape of a green Dapol 22.

I hope so, at least for the glossing, I find it the darkest of the arts where decorating is concerned.

Das ist keine schlechte Idee, alter Junge. Diese verrückten Krauts haben einen sehr ähnlichen Diesel wie die guten alten Kriegsschiffe in der westlichen Region.

Danke schön

Not much to report, still waiting to get the horn, I should hopefully get them up within the next couple of weeks.

The playroom has been decorated and to make more room the *S.H.A.R.T. device has been taken apart to be stowed (or maybe recycled?).

Ooo, I hadn't realised I'd attempted a switch anchor, must remember that for next time.

PS: Treated myself to a Bulleid Shorty Set No: 972... well it is payday and I'd only waste it on food or bills or something.

I've had a message to say that Parcel Farce have a package from Tim Horn for me on a 24 hour delivery.  YAY!!!

Set 972 rocked up today at work, these really are superb models for the money, £30 for the brakes and £48 for the compo from Kernow.

Wondering what my old (brand new boxed) Bachmann longun's are worth now, now that the bu99ers are bringing out some up to date versions?

Anyway I've blagged tomorrow off 'work' to make train noises and stick my fingers together.
