RMweb Premium Banger Blue Posted October 11, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 11, 2017 A bit of a long shot this one, but miracles do sometimes occur in RMWeb land. Thanks to the recent rash of sale price Westerns, Father Christmas will be bringing me D1026 'Western Centurion'. A bit early for my normal era but it looks such a lovely model it was too good to resist at those recent prices, what I would really like to do is put an authentic head code on but not just any old head code! What I would like is to find a headcode from a service that D1026 worked (if any) on the 31st July 1971 (my birthday). Has anybody got the relevant info or could point me in the right direction please? I did say it was a long shot!!! Failing that, if anybody has a WTT for the summer of 1971, any headcode for a service that was Western worked and in the Oxford / Didcot / Reading area would be appreciated. Kind Regards
Geoff Endacott
Never mind the headcode. The model of D1026 has headboard clips which the actual locomotive didn't. Geoff Endacott

Kind Regards Hi Dougie, According to "Westerns" Vol. 1 D1000-D1029,by a well-known journalist,if I'm reading right,Centurion was in Swindon Works from 26 7 71 to 29 10 71,undergoing what seems to be a collision damage repair, and various other repairs. HTH Neil Thanks for the replies Neil, looks like that idea is scuppered! Oh well, looks like it's a trawl through Flickr & Google to find D1026 and an appropriate headcode. RMweb Premium Banger Blue Posted October 21, 2017 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 21, 2017 Thanks for taking the time to post that Trevor, I think it would be rude not to have that for one end .

TEDDYBEAR D9521
D1026 had a history of being one of those Westerns that Maroon and BR blue livery ran around with itsRH nameplate missing and also for a while after a repaint into blue it had it’s BR arrow missing on one end under the second mans window. RMweb Premium Banger Blue Posted April 1, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted April 1, 2018 A quick update: With Geoff pointing out Dapol’s model has headboard clips but the prototype D1026 didn’t and Mark providing that excellent list of Westerns working on the 31/07/71, I started to work through the list using Flickr to identify a decent match to the model. I finally settled on D1016 Western Gladiator (hopefully it’s not too far out) and an order was made with Railtec Transfers. All I need now is to make or procure the head code blinds for 1B25 and it will be complete. I must say I really do like the 3D printed nameplates from Railtec:
RMweb Premium Banger Blue Posted May 22, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted May 22, 2018 Finally got round to adding the head codes to D1016: 1B25 13:30 Paddington - Paignton At the other end I’ve just opted for a simple 0Z00:
