Rokeby

Well I'm in. Added constraint set by senior management that everything should come from my existing stock/stash

Current thoughts are a mini layout in 009 with a high level track for skips discharging to a lower loading point with a suitable digger inspired by my recent visit to Leighton buzzard

I think a plan that uses height to fill the space is an inherently good idea for this challenge and I look forward to seeing what you produce.

Why "Rokeby"?  I live in a place called Rokeby, and it isn't anywhere near Leighton Buzzard!

Building underway - the small size means rapid progress is possible

Base from foamboard - left an inch under the base to allow addition of electrics within the usable space

Plenty more to do but basics are coming together

Having pretty much finished my main layout, the Christmas period has allowed some progress on the cakebox

Building the steam shovel - will post more shortly

Well I believe its just about finished!

Additional challenge met - not a single item purchased for the entry 9may just indicate that my stock stash is rather too big!)

Both tracks are powered - as are the Led lamps on the buffer stops

For added interest I have a removable fiddle stick that will accommodate the train from the lower level (yes I know that's outside the envelope)

I'm totally blown away.  Every thing "works" and even in the small space with all you have going on, the scenery dominates - just as in real life.  I really do like your use of the black foamboard - provides and excellent foundation while at the same time "framing" the scene without being overpowering.  EXCELLENT!
