RMweb Gold TravisM Posted October 15, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 15, 2017 I read somewhere that all the Deltic's were repainted from green to blue fairly quickly because of the small class and all done by 1969. I was wondering if anyone has the the repainting dates for the class? Any help would be great. Julian Sprott

Kubes
Are you sure about 55001 St Paddy being repainted in 69? The reason I ask is that I remember being invited as a small boy into the cab of St Paddy in new blue livery at Edinburgh Waverley and I am sure we glimpsed a steam loco at Newcastle on the way up which would place the date a bit earlier. I may be conflating memories of course but I used to have a photo of my cab visit (sadly long lost alas) and as a Londoner it wasn't a regular trip,!! Kubes That is the date given in the list I have which and the livery change was stated as part of an intermediate repair. 001 received full yellow ends in 30/3/67 at a general repair so that is why she was that much later changing to blue. Kubes
Ah that's what confused me . The photo as I remember it showed just the cab with mini me peering out of the side window. It was a black and white snap taken by my mother and I guess that I subsequently thought it must have been blue because of the full yellow end. It's funny how we build memories over the years!
