nit picking, does the track and some spare rail cover the two railway items, you really need the relay boxes or the half wagon I think.

apart from that it is the best one I have seen so far, some are to realistic for me. :locomotive:

I suppose I could claim that the rail and sleepers are two separate items , then of course there is the ballast to consider ............... :onthequiet:

I do get your point though so I will see what I can do .

Very effective and understated, glad you have removed the 'half tank' as it seemed to distract the eye from the model itself.

I agree with Stubby47 some electric cables fixed to the Armco barrier and/or rely boxes.

Well it would seem that following major investment the rail infrastructure serving the cake works is in the process of being upgraded !

Nipped out to Ilkeston today to visit the model shop , came back with some relay boxes and some trunking.

I chose the Bachmann boxes after deciding the Wills kit ones looked too big ( to my eye anyway ) plus they are ready painted.

I also found that I had to sand quite a bit off the depth of the Wills trunking for to sit right .

Looking at it I think once ballasted I could have got away with using the same card I used for the slabs to represent the lids of the trunking.

Anyway just need to add a bit of grass back on and I think it will be finished.

It'll be jam in the tanks, so it won't go anywhere if there's a leak..........

.....it'll be jammed in.

It could even be wooden 'pips' for the strawberry jam....

It could even be wooden 'pips' for the strawberry jam....

I had that in mind while making this one as I remembered reading about this in connection with somewhere in Derby  ,  just done a google search  and discovered it was an article in the Fortean Times about this being an " urban myth " . There was a guy who claimed he had a saturday job when he was a lad here in Derby putting wooden pips in jam !

If only you could have kept on going with the layout, it's fantastic.

  • 1 year later...

Turned out well - this was (is) excellent - multiple likes!

Subtle pastle shades and perfect weathering.

Why could it not be expanded or used as a concept for a new layout?
