I have decided to sell Parsons Vale sooner rather than later, I need the space in the garage and with the completion of phase 1 of Peasevern Yard I have lost enthusiasm for 4mm.  Should anyone on here be interested the first offer of £1,000 would secure the layout and it comes with DC controller and all scenery/vehicles and buildings but no stock(A separate deal can be done for the stock). It is ideal for home and exhibition use and can fit in an Estate car for transport and I can deliver (at extra cost) if required please PM me if interested. Thanks

It is amazing how time flies, it looks like it is just under 2 years since I had setup Parsons Vale but with Mike Walker confirming yesterday that the Cheltenham show on 2nd and 3rd April is definitely happening I thought I had better set the layout up and practice the operating sequence plus check it all worked. That in itself was a task as basically Peasevern Yard lives on top of it so both layouts had to be dragged out of the garage and around a 180 degree bend to get them in the house. The hassle  of getting it out along with enjoying O gauge so much has reaffirmed my decision that Parsons Vale will definitely be sold as soon as possible after Cheltenham.

Anyway once up it generally behaved itself bar one dry joint so I had some fun playing with it at least so here are some photos

47077 brings in an empty Motorail flat. These are scratchbuilt using Bachmann and Cooper craft bits and we're built long before the Bachmann and Oxford variants came out 20220123_100904.jpg.60063d3a79038e47ccb444952ec35a9b.jpg

A classic view from the A38 on the top deck of a Bristol VR bus. I don't often take photos from this angle as it highlights the much shortened rear gardens at the back of the layout

It must be later in the day now as the NPCCS vehicles have been replaced with passenger coaches for overnight servicing.

The static steam heating boiler is broken so one of the Southern region boiler vans has been sent although as it is summer there is not much requirement for it. Behind it a 12t van has brought some new linen for the sleeping cars and the Ever present bin truck is awaiting a trip to Kingsland Road to be emptied20220123_110012.jpg.7521fab32d4aa983c3fd1dab455a25d4.jpg

Great to see Parson's Vale today, Rob, and to have a good long chat. Some really nice details on the layout, several of which have been "filed away" for future use!

Likewise,  great to catch up Adrian!  Good first day and feel like I am getting on top of operating the Layout

Well it was great to get back on the show scene after 4 years absence.  It was 2 years ago to the weekend that Parsons Vale should have made its debut at the now (sadly missed) Trainwest show but due to world events that debut was delayed. It took me Saturday morning to get fully comfortable with the layout but by the afternoon a few little glitches had been fixed and and it was operating reliably. Lots of positive comments from the visitors/other exhibitors which was nice. A potential purchaser has first refusal until Friday to make a decision before it ventures on to ebay

Parsons Vale is now sold and is being collected on Thursday. I set it up ready tonight to show the new owner how it works and to check it all still works as it should.  I sold all my rolling stock earlier this year but still own the majority of the locos although these will be sold soon as well as to complete my transition to O gauge.  I couldn't resist one Diesel gala open day shot on what is effectively the "last day of school" before layout and loco go their separate ways and I draw a line on 00 modelling.

My time with Parsons Vale was short but sweet, Covid killed off at least 3 shows it was supposed to appear at and I got bitten by the O gauge bug shortly after completing it. Hopefully it's new owner will enjoy it and maybe do some shows with it. Thanks for following folks.

I see you're doing what I did a couple of years ago. I am enjoying O gauge I hope you do.

Thanks, yep very much so. Never say never but don't see me going back to 00 gauge.

i only found this post today, it brought back many memories of that area as i lived 1 street away and my mates house backed onto the railway embankment and we would spend many an hour getting through the hole in the fence and playing on or near the tracks in the late 60-early 70's.

great times.
