mikeharvey22
For the past year or so I have been scratchbuilding interfaces between Tomytec moving bus chassis and the bodies of the Oxford Diecast New Routemaster bus. Shapeways recent free postage offer spurred me on to do what I should have done in the first place and that is to design a 3d printed interface. Now that I have done that the conversion of the static bus to a moving one takes but a few minutes. The motorised chassis clips into the printed interface, and the interface clips into the New Routemaster body. The biggest job is a minute's work with a burr to remove a small amount of plastic which holds the Oxford bus together. The beauty of it now is with the internal dimensions of the interface fixed I can adapt the design to suit other bodies from the BT Models, Oxford Diecast and Bachmann Scenecraft ranges, as well as some of the excellent ADL400 Enviro, and Wrightbus double and single deckers available on Shapeways, and the ADL Enviro and Citaro buses from NTrain. The 3d printed interface The Tomytec chassis mounted in the interface And the bus ready to run. And a video demonstration of a few buses on my Grand Central layout.
