Members of the Helston & Falmouth Model Railway Club added another award to their collection when they were presented with the Chairman’s Shield for their layout ‘Gweek North Quay’ at the Taunton Rail-Ex this weekend. The model, which features the mythical Helford Valley Railway, has been well received at exhibitions all over the country from Wigan to Wells, and the Club’s own exhibition held each April at Helston Community College.

Club member Steve Howe said “We are delighted to get accolades for our work, but what makes it really worthwhile is showing a little bit of Cornwall around the country and the enjoyment we and visitors get from seeing the layout in action.”

The Club, founded in 1951, making it the oldest club of its kind in the Westcountry and one of a handful in the UK, has its headquarters at Gunwalloe where work is being carried out on several new model projects.

New members are always made welcome:  www.hfmrc.com
