Hi Baz

You have met Mme St Enodoc, is John brave enough if you were to tell her? Or is it better not to tell her so John has somewhere to live?

Mutually Assured Destruction. If Baz were to do that, I'm sure I could find some tales to tell about H (true or not...).

Real Yorkshire men use 1 teabag then dry it out for reuse next cuppa time

If you look carefully you will find the contents of tea bags used as scenic material on both Shap and Grantham but we did go to the expense of using a  fresh bag on each layout and it was Yorkshire tea.

So - so far the Hills of the North 'Fantasy football team' of operators lines up as follows:

1) Central station (rest of the world) (2 persons) - St Enodoc

2) Bog Junction (WCML / S&C through lines) - Barry O

3) Shap summit / Carlisle Station North - Barry O

4) Carlisle Upperby (2 persons) - Barry O

5) Carlisle Station (2 persons) - Dr Gerbil-Fritters

6) Garsdale - Barry O

7) Reedsmouth Junction (S&C through lines) - Barry O

8) Dentonholme Goods - Barry O

9) Caldew Junction (Carlisle North) - Barry O

10) Carlisle Canal / Edinburgh fiddle yard (2 persons) - Barry O

11) Riccarton Junction - Coronach

Fat Controller - Red Leader (possibly stationed at Bog Junction)

Tea Lad - Clive

Anybody fancy helping Barry out - he's going to be a tad busy as it is!

I could lift some of Barry's load by offering to run Garsdale !!  Not much ballasting there more scenic to keep me busy.

I can almost believe it will happen...

What about Grand Junction? Will that select the routes automatically according to what is going on at other places?

Grand Junction will be controlled remotely from Bog Junction. Point position will be indicated and a certain amount of interlocking to avoid setting up illogical routes. That's part of what has clicked into place with the setting out of Bog Junction and thinking it through (in the bath)  image.png.ff4b955b06e5ca81b2a1065b20276167.png

You can put me down for Caldew North as I spent some coniderable time there in my pram while my father noted down train numbers. As an 8 month old I heard a lot of Duchesses. Something must have stuck.

Yes Mike, that was always a 'issue to be resolved' with the plan as drawn.

My solution is that the north end of Carlisle station will be assisted by operating position No.3 Shap Summit / Citadel North, working in conjunction with the principal Citadel operating position. As well as north end loco changes, there's also the north-facing bays (plats 7&8) which will be almost entirely for operator No.3 to do. Despite the apparent excitement / interest of driving trains towards Shap summit, I don't see that as a 'full on' operating position, so I think there'll be ample capacity for that operator to help out with Carlisle.

I may have to grow longer arms!

Or are you just going to have to hurdle parts of the layout. With all the people offering to man tea & beer supplies you won't get thirsty jumping across the layout though there must be a few good reasons its not an ideal form of operating.

Out of interest, are there routes on the plan that mean if you just want to set something running, watch trains go by and admire the world you have created, that can be done?

Hi Red Leader

I have noticed what could put the whole operation to fail. Where is the socket to put the kettle plug into?

I can hear them now "NO TEA!!!!!!!":ireful::rtfm::ireful:

Hi Clive,

The socket for the kettle is in Teaside which must be part of the rest of the world.

Gibbo.

The trouble with that is who would act as interpreter when you two started speaking in patois.

Jamie

Hi Jamie

I wouldn't worry, they would be possibly talking about something the rest of us wouldn't want to know about.
