Out of interest, are there routes on the plan that mean if you just want to set something running, watch trains go by and admire the world you have created, that can be done?

The nature of the layout is such that there is no continuous run anywhere - it's a whole series of interlinked terminus-station-fiddle yard operations. It would be possible to put in a link from Upperby to 'grand junction' which would give a continuous run round the WCML, which might be useful for testing purposes but not really a route where you could leave a train running unattended due to the gradient changes.

I'll be quite happy building things in between operating sessions...

I have noticed what could put the whole operation to fail. Where is the socket to put the kettle plug into?

I can hear them now "NO TEA!!!!!!!":ireful::rtfm::ireful:

The socket for the kettle is in Teaside which must be part of the rest of the world.

The current tea point is close to where the Carlisle Canal / Edinburgh operator is position. So JW must be further regretting his obstreperousness...

The trouble with that is who would act as interpreter when you two started speaking in patois.

All communication will be by bell code so not an issue ...

He'll obviously be driving the fireless loco that ran there then.

Though of course it was dangerously close to Carlisle State Brewery and we wouldn't want him sampling their products would we.

On the internal radio system at one depot where I worked, "Coffee Up" (or "Tea Up") was "Code 4".

On the subject of Yorkshire teabags.  At the beginning of lockdown, in the midst of panic buying, Morrisons in Skipton had an empty shelf where Yorkshire teabags should have been.  Next to the space was a large stack of 'another' brand which was on special offer!  This disproves the story that Yorkshire people always choose the cheapest option.  Quality does count sometimes.

Nope!

Would probably last half a week the way we go through tea!!!

Problem is...how do you get to the loo????

Baz

You could always recreate that famous photo of IIRC the Swindon open day when they made tea in loco tenders steam heated. At least it's a useful use for tenders designed to go behind Swindon built locos.

Just catching up with different layouts, due to being in lockdown. My god man, you are a layout builder addict. Grantham, woodhead(assisting), hills of the north, and now this. Someone take his power tools off him before the rest of use feel inadequate lol.

Ps-is this code 100 again?

Does he actually sleep? And most of this was before he retired? With children?

I`m going to curl up in a corner and feel inadequate lol.

PS-I have found modelling through put improves the more you avoid the square magic talking picture box.

... and 'Spirit of Seaton Junction'

... and 'Through Limestone Hills'

... and 'Camden'

... and 'Little Bytham'

(all on here ... in roughly decreasing order of significance of input)

And not forgetting the GMRC thing.

Sleep - What's that?

It has accelerated a little post-children and now in (semi) retirement.

Most of HotN will be Code 75.
