RMweb Premium MJI Posted March 6, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted March 6, 2020 Due to the way I have got hold of bits not enough Lima, then I used one to beef up to cast more frames from.
RMweb Premium MJI Posted March 8, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted March 8, 2020 Folding up and fitting handrails today, having to drill some holes where there was an error in the etch. I am leaving the guards area until Lowrider fitted. To buy 3 x sets MJT frames 12 axles (asking for 20 on axles 4 loose) DMU disc Job list Gangways Exhausts Inner end details Paint interior Glazing Assemble motor bogie Assemble other 5 Bogie sideframes (find 12 good ones) The 119 will have cost me nearly £200 to have built with roughly 50 to 100 hours of work. Underframes - had spare centre from conversions. motor bough cheap from a remotorer, could not find my unpower underframe (Evil* body used for B430 DMS conversion, cabs were missing, my TCL had BR1s on it, still no idea where I put it). Had to buy a Ebay evil DMBS. Bodies, Worseley etches, Triang roofs (bought a few random Mk 1s for parts), MJI roof dome (mould taken from a 116 conversion), plastic card bow ends on top of brass. Interior, lots of plastic card and resin seats Bogies So far Lowrider ordered, frames will be resin. Planning Gibson wheels. * Evil DMBS, the unpowered Lima DMBS which should have been a DMS, I have converted 5 of the bu**ers!
Wayne 37901
Despite not having a use for a 119 myself, this looks a good project. Did I see mentioned that you 'beefed up' the Lima bogie frames? I need to re-visit my Valley Lines 116 at some point so would be interested in how you did it. Keep up the good work. Cheers,

Cheers, The Lima is nearest to 119, checked Hornby, Lima, DC, and pictures of Trix. I sliced one side off, carved off the top edge and put a piece of plastic card along the top. Then covered in rubber, twice, now got about 20 frames before the moulds started to wear out.

RMweb Premium MJI Posted July 12, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted July 12, 2020 Just been running the DMBC chassis on fly leads. Lovely and smooth At present I recommend the High Level Low Rider, but I would recommend Chris investigates another fitting method for non LIma/Hornby fitments with a top pivot. Come to think of it there is enough metal to make a bracket to do this.
RMweb Premium MJI Posted July 19, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted July 19, 2020 DMBC Chassis Whole set, DMSL is low on its chassis. TSLB slightly high 1

Tempfix Rich Papper Posted July 19, 2020 Tempfix Share Posted July 19, 2020 Are you going for curtains in first class? I'm a bit ambivalent in NSE as some had lost them by then, although L588 still seemed to have them when first painted. Did they still have them in blue / grey? Liking it though. I did seriously consider this colour. I've added body-chassis location to my list too, thanks. Not really thought that through yet. Rich
RMweb Premium MJI Posted July 20, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted July 20, 2020 I forgot to add curtains to list! I have some orange painted paper somewhere. Currently back in its R.U.B. for the week as I am on the PC not quite visible remoting to the office. And if anyone is reading. It took a while as rather big. I am testing an EDI and they take a while.
