My late Victorian/Edwardian mineral and light railway layout, The Calder Vale Mineral Railway thread is in the UK Standard Gauge Industrial section of this forum but some of my photos don't fit in there because they aren't industrial and are of passenger trains, so I thought you chaps and chapesses may appreciate them more...

 

A Terrier in the West Riding? Who'd have thought it? Apparently there was a mix-up in the records and the LBSCR sold one, in 1902, to the CVMR but over 110 years later I expect we'll never know the original identity of Hathor, seen here at Brookfoot with a short train made up of an ancient LNWR Brake 3rd and a pair of ex-GNoSR thirds. CVMR General Manager Ozias Harding knew a bargain when he saw it and Hathor served the company well, running until cessation of the public passenger service in March of 1940. Sadly she was broken up during a wartime scrap drive, her boiler (replaced at the Boyne Engine Works of Manning, Wardle & Co. in 1910 requiring serious repairs.

The General is in an appalling state, which infuriates the railway's General Manager, Ozias Harding, but as she is one of the Coal & Clay Company's engines, and not one of his own, there is little he can do about it.

Here, by way of a change is something different. A GER Horsebox, built from a D&S kits and painted by Ian Rathbone. I don't know who built it, I took it as payment of a debt, together with its GWR counterpart.

Another LNWR loco that I built, 0 gauge this time.

 

Greater Britain was painted in Post Office Red for Queen Victoria’s Jubilee celebrations.Other areas normally black were painted navy blue. The whole was lined out in gold and navy. The loco’s uncoupled drivers originally had a motor each, but now it has a single motor with a Delrin chain drive, (easier for dcc).

In 1922 H.C. Casserley visited the CVMR and took several shots of the ancient Beyer Peacock tank that they were using on the passenger service.

Its an R1 on a K's 14xx chassis with scratchbuilt bogie
