Both are code 40 (40thou high) and the bull head has a proper top and bottom (deeper top). Cross sections are shown on P7 of the yearbook. I would imagine the railhead width of flat bottom to be the same (the height certainly is). It's difficult to accurately measure the depth of either the head or foot and i don't have access to the specs. Be aware that 2MM Scale Association products are only available to members as their development and production is financed by members subscriptions. The more detailed spec for the rail dimensions exists, but is not publically available. What exactly do you need it for? As I recall, the head of the FB may well be marginally wider than for the BH. Actually the precise rail section isn't present in either the handbook or the yearbook, and these contain nothing that cannot already be seen on the 2mm website under 'standards'. I suggest you contact Nigel Ashton who is the Products Officer. Measuring it is indeed not easy. Except of course that it is 1mm high and 0.5mm wide. The only other dimension that might be of interest for the BH rail is that the radius of the top section i.e. where the wheel runs against is supposed to be 0.1mm. The Association wheel dimensions are to be found here: http://2mm.org.uk/standards/locochassis.htm and the radius on the wheel flange of 0.13mm is compatible with the rail. Ian Smith Posted January 23, 2018 Share Posted January 23, 2018 Just to add a little to the discussion, I found that the flat bottomed rail is slightly taller than the code 40 plain rail (and I think it was the same when I compared it with the Association code 40 bullhead rail). How do I know? My baulk road trackwork is all code 40 plain rail with the exception of the point loose heel switches which are flat bottomed rail - I had to sand the tops of the switches to bring them down to the height of the code 40 plain rail.
