Marbelup
That was quick! It arrived today. I printed some track samples and it's definitely stronger than pure PLA. Andy - Have you posted photos of your 3D printed turnouts and track? I would be interested to see what you have done. I have printed some lengths of sleeper bas to suit flat-bottomed rail for Sn3.5 (16.5 mm), S standard gauge (22.5 mm) and dual gauge. I haven't attempted turnouts yet, although I have made many turnouts previously on timber sleepers using Pliobond glue to attached the rails.

RMweb Premium figworthy Posted February 24, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted February 24, 2018 Thanks Jim. I've had a look, and it isn't a loose connection, it is a broken one !. One of the power leads has broken off where it is (was) soldered onto the plate. I'm guessing that it is a metal fatigue issue as the wires bend when the plate slides backwards and forwards. In theory that is easy to fix, but it is "big soldering iron" job, and I don't have one. But I think I might know someone who does. Regarding the blue tape, sometimes that works for me, other times it doesn't, and there doesn't seem to be a pattern to it. Adrian It took a while, but a friend armed with a big soldering iron visited today, and I now have a working printer again I've also switched to using a brim, and the print went like a dream. Thanks again for the advice in this thread. Adrian
