Thanks Larry

Would you suggest brush painting the 5 thou plasticard with humbrol 9? Worked a treat on patching Hornby teaks for renumbering many moons ago on your suggestion.

I have no Humbrol No.9 but I am guessing it is tan. The first thing is to apply as little glue as possible to 5thou plastikard to prevent it being disfigured. In fact, I have also used good quality paper glued on with Evostick.

Yes I believe is tan. You recommended it to me years ago when renumbering teaks where the teak finish had come away. Worked a treat.

Three of the newest teaks are in stock; full brake, buffet and corridor third:

https://www.Hornby.com/uk-en/lner-61-6-gresley-full-brake-4234-era-3.html

https://www.Hornby.com/uk-en/lner-61-6-gresley-corridor-third-23864-era-3.html

https://www.Hornby.com/uk-en/lner-61-6-gresley-corridor-buffet-21611-era-3.html

They've got the grain direction on the doors correct and the graining itself looks considerably better than the last batch of coaches.

the Hornby images look to be the same images as those currently on Hatton's web-site, so I am guessing the Hornby images still are not actually yet the actual thing, as they're not in stock at Hatton's yet and they tend to put up photos of the real thing when they are available: https://www.hattons.co.uk/337805/hornby_r4830_gresley_61_6_full_brake_4234_in_lner_teak/stockdetail.aspx

I'm holding fire on a purchase til I have seen these coaches 'in the flesh'.

cheers,

Keith

Gresley Full Brake, RRP at Hornby £54.99.

i wonder what those bandits on eBay demanding £90 for one will do now.

Hope there are a lot of mugs who are not paying attention!

I bought my first teak (a buffet) in 2004, for £35. With inflation, £35 is now £52.72

And given the pound is much weaker, this is not too bad in terms of pricing.

By contrast, the RRP of an A4 in 2004 was about £85, which today is around £130, while prices in reality are generally much higher.

So the teaks reprasent good value for money, albeit still with objectionable tumblehome.

Hornby have one picture on their facebook page that I would think is of the actual new coaches.

They certainly look better than the last releases to me.

They also look a bit different in that lighting to the original ones I have, which may be no bad thing for creating variation within a formation.

I am looking forward to seeing some  individual photos.

I hope the link below works. Tom

It should be noted that the Hornby marketing photographs now show the graining on the door panels running in the right direction, so let's hope that update is reflected on the models...

It was on the last release with the grey roofs so hopefully they have learnt the lesson well.
